Job Responsibilities This position is for a full time Research Assistant who will perform laboratory studies associated with environmental samples from a prospective study to investigate infectious viruses in Singapore\xe2\x80\x99s wastewater. He/she will perform assays using environmental samples to assess multiple factors including pathogen identity and host response to infection. Additional responsibilities will include careful record keeping, wastewater sample processing, virus isolation, and preparation of samples for other analyses (e.g. deep sequencing and serology). A successful candidate may also be asked to assist with additional laboratory studies requiring expertise in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, in vitro transcription, transfection and stable cell line selection.
Job Requirements: This laboratory is seeking a Research Assistant with a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in the biological sciences or a related field. He/she is expected to be technically capable, hardworking and able to work independently to perform standard laboratory assays including PCR, tissue culture, and environmental sample preparation. He/she should also be highly motivated to work in a competitive field of research and demonstrate initiative, creativity and effective communication. Previous research experience with human or environmental samples and with virologic techniques, such as plaque assay, is highly desired.
