Awarded by Singapore\'s Social Science Research Council (SSRC), a Social Science and Humanities Research (SSHR) Fellowship, led by Principle Investigator Dr Lin Weiqiang (National University of Singapore), is seeking to appoint one Research Assistants (RA) to contribute to the team\'s research activities on airport infrastructure, automation and labour.

Terms and Conditions

Detailed terms and conditions of employment are as follows:

• Contract to be awarded for 12 months in the first instance.
• The appointment will not be eligible for extensions.
• A competitive salary packaged will be offered, and will be commensurable to experience
• Singapore citizens and permanent residents are eligible for Provident Fund benefits.

Qualifications

The assistantship will be hosted at the Department of Geography, National University of Singapore (NUS). The successful applicant preferably holds a Bachelor degree in the Social Sciences and Humanities or cognate disciplines. Interest in transport, labour issues, automation, technology and migration are preferred. Ideally, the successful applicant is familiar with NUS.

Job Scope

The job scope and responsibilities of the RA are as follows:

• Provide overseas fieldwork support in Dubai, in terms of recruiting participants, setting up and conducting interviews (both on-site and virtually).
• Provide assistance in interview transcription, translation (from foreign languages, including Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi and/or Tamil, to English), coding and data analysis
• Provide able administrative and research support, including, but not limited to, documentary preparation for project-related applications, organization of meetings and library research.
• Assist in occasional workshop logistics (call for papers, invitations, accommodation booking etc).
• Support the PI and the team in any other research needs related to the project.
