Research Engineer (climate Change Impact On Erosion) 1

Singapore, Singapore

Job Description

Offer Description

Rainfall-induced erosion failure of the slope is a severe concern in many tropical countries as it can harm public safety and/or infrastructure. The impact could be especially severe in Singapore as our population density is high and our infrastructure development is very dense; hence, some of these slopes are near to the infrastructure development and residential areas. The erosion failure can also lead to high repair costs. Singapore is tropical country with very high annual rainfall. Climate change seems to intensify our rainfall and increase its frequency. And this will increase the occurrence of erosion failure of slope.

This project seeks to study this and develop an \xe2\x80\x9cErosion Risk Map\xe2\x80\x9d for Singapore. The scope of works includes the reviewing the mechanism of slope erosion, studying erosion potential subject to rainfall condition, conducting laboratory model testing, supervising site scan on the physical condition for selected slopes in Singapore for risk map development.
