Job Title: Research Engineer (Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence)

We are looking for a passionate and curious Research Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team developing autonomous spacecraft technologies.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in microcontroller and FPGA-based design, while contributing to research in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Edge Computing for next-generation autonomous spacecraft systems.
You will work closely with experienced engineers and researchers to prototype, test, and explore advanced onboard technologies that enable intelligent decision-making directly at the spacecraft edge - reducing ground dependence and enhancing real-time autonomy in orbit.
Key Responsibilities:

• Pioneer embedded system development for mission-critical spacecraft subsystems, focusing on reliability, fault tolerance, and low-power operation.
• Participate in the spacecraft software development life cycle (SDLC) - including requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, and documentation - while ensuring reliability and performance under space constraints.
• Conduct system-level integration, verification, and performance benchmarking across hardware, firmware, and software layers.
• Engage in research on Edge Computing and AI/ML techniques to enable onboard data processing, adaptive control, and autonomous decision-making in spacecraft.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) validation campaigns for flight and ground systems.
• Contribute to academic research outputs, including the preparation of technical reports, conference papers, and journal publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong fundamentals in embedded systems, digital design, hardware acceleration, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and FPGA programming (VHDL/Verilog).
• Good understanding of microcontroller-based systems, IC/SPI/UART communication, and hardware-software interfacing.
• Keen interest in Edge Computing, AI/ML deployment, and hardware-software co-design for next-generation autonomous spacecraft.
