To provide specialist bioinformatics analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and cellular phenotypic data to investigate genetic influences on gene expression and vascular cell behaviour in relation to cardiovascular diseases.
To provide input into the design of experimental studies and the preparation of research grants and scientific papers for publication.
Desirable knowledge and experience
RNA-Seq data analysis.
Gene regulatory networks analysis.
Cardiovascular research.
Research productivity (e.g. research publications in peer review journals).
Qualifications
Good honours level first degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. mathematics or biology).
Higher degree (i.e. PhD) in bioinformatics or in biological sciences with a strong computer programming component - required.
Experience in standard techniques in bioinformatics.
Strong programming skills (e.g. in R, Perl or C++).
Evidence of involvement in innovative research.
Proven analytic and technical/scientific problem solving capability.
