Offer Description
The lab is equipped to perform cellular experimental work (BSL2) on animal and human samples, and has strong translational and clinically orientated background with access to clinical data and human tissue. Given clinical contacts the lab would provide strong interaction with cardiovascular specialists and clinicians. Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to work on vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) phenotypic characterisation using single-cell RNA sequencing technology, sncRNA and CRISPR to identify potential therapeutic targets to attenuate inflammation in atherosclerosis, using patient-specific cells as a platform to evaluate and treat cardiovascular disease.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The RF is expected to: * Plan and perform experimental work related to tissue dissociation to single cells and patient-specific cell culture, miRNA transfection, fluorescence activated cell sorting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, molecular biology including DNA, RNA and corresponding proteomic work;
