The Health District is a multi-stakeholder and multi-disciplinary project, which is primarily led by the National University of Singapore (NUS), National University Health System (NUHS) and Housing and Development Board (HDB), with various collaborators across the healthcare, governmental, academic, business and civic society sectors. The goals of the Health District are to improve healthy longevity, enable purposeful longevity, promote intergenerational bonding, and support a community where people of all ages are able to remain if they choose to do so. The project takes on an open innovation, whole-of-society approach, which emphasises on co-developing solutions to tackle complex issues in the community in Singapore, with hope of deriving insights which can also benefit the wider international communities.
The Evaluation Workstream has been set up to assess and evaluate the success of Health District holistically, determining whether it can be used as a model for other districts. The Workstream intends to evaluate and monitor the interventions to be implemented in the Health District, using 2 main metrics: effectiveness at impacting direct or leading indicators of healthy aging, and sustainability of upscale implementation. The Workstream is recruiting a team of researchers to support the evaluation efforts.
