LKCMedicine operates from two campuses \xe2\x80\x93 Yunnan Campus at Nanyang Technological University and Novena Campus, which is located in the precinct of the future HealthCity. We are currently recruiting a Research Fellow to join Assistant Professor Marie Loh\xe2\x80\x99s group at LKCMedicine as part of the Asian Skin Microbiome Programme 2.0 (ASMP 2.0). ASMP 2.0 aims to assemble an integrated platform of assets and technologies which will comprehensively interrogate the functional roles of skin microbiome components and uncover novel bi-directional interactions between the host and skin microbiome. The potential candidate will be also be a part of the Molecular Epidemiology arm of the Population and Global Health Programme at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
The candidate should have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams across different partner institutions.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Quality control of genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic and metagenomics data
Large-scale clinical and molecular phenotypes data, including integrative omics studies
Evaluation and application of appropriate bioinformatics/statistical techniques, as well as developing and implementing novel approaches to answer research questions
Scripting and automating robust analysis pipelines
Writing of scientific manuscripts
Presentation of work-in-progress and results within/outside of research group, using appropriate presentations format
Key qualifications:
PhD degree in bioinformatics or statistical genetics, computational biology, or related field (Candidates with Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree may also be considered)
Experience working with big genomic datasets; a good understanding of omics approaches is essential (including but not limited to omics-wide association studies, QTL studies, colocalization, Mendelian Randomization)
Proficient in R, Python, Linux/Unix
Command over commonly used genetics (e.g., PLINK, GCTA, FUMA, variant predictor tools) and metagenomics tools (e.g. kneadata, metaphlan2, HUMAnN)
Experience working in high performance computing cluster
Experience in AI/ML, cloud computing, web development are assets.
This opening will be based at LKCMedicine Novena Campus, Singapore. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
