In the programme of Nutrition, Metabolism and Health of LKCMedicine, we are focusing to understand the link of nutrition and disease. In the group of A/Prof. Torsten Wuestefeld the focus is on the liver with a high interest in the manifestation of the metabolic syndrome in the liver, fatty liver disease. We conduct translational research to identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers.We are looking for an experienced Research Fellow with extensive knowledge in molecular biology techniques as recombinant protein expression in E. coli and mammalian cell, Western Blot, Co-IP, Pulldown, DNA/RNA purification, RT-PCR, cDNA cloning, NGS and RNAseq sample preparation, mammalian cell culture and experience in leading and teaching students.Key Responsibilities:Organizing laboratoryOrdering and safety obligations of the labConstructing shRNA and gRNA librariesPreparing samples for NGS and subsequent analysisMaintenance of lab equipmentgDNA isolation from fatty liverOptimizing the method for RNAseq sample preparation from fatty liverAdministration of research laboratory and training of new lab members/studentsCompetencies and Requirements:PhD in related field studiesExperience in Administration of research laboratory and training of new lab members/studentsExperience in processing fatty liver tissue samples for DNA, RNA and protein isolationExperience in NGS library preparation, especially in AmpliconSeq sample preparation and multiplexingMammalian cell cultureCloning, PCR, protein biochemistryHiring Institution: LKC
