INVITATION TO APPLY
The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Blue Carbon. The aim of this project is to undertake national blue carbon accounting to show the potential for blue carbon to contribute to Singapore\'s greenhouse gas reporting and climate change targets. The position is expected to begin in December 2023 or soon thereafter. The position will be for a period of up to 3 years, subject to performance review.

THE ROLE

  • You will be part of a research team that studies carbon dynamics in Singapore\'s coastal ecosystems
  • Develop geospatial data products of blue carbon stocks and gaseous fluxes estimates in Singapore
  • Provide additional help collect field data on blue carbon stocks and gaseous fluxes
  • Mentor graduate students, undergraduate students and research staff working on Blue Carbon and associated ecosystem services
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT * The appointment will be tenable for a maximum period of 3 years

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • A PhD in environmental sciences, geography, earth system science, or similar discipline
  • Experience in aerial and satellite data processing (e.g., Landsat, Sentinel, lidar)
  • Good knowledge of geostatistics and sampling design
  • Programming skills in R, Python or similar
  • Publication records commensurate with career stage
  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Ability to work independently
