An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Manager to join the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC). This position will initially be offered on a three-year contract.

TLC promotes excellence in teaching and learning through the design and implementation of innovative pedagogies; facilitation of faculty development and training; scholarship of teaching & learning; and provides academic support for students whilst developing lifelong learning attributes in our graduates.



As Research Manager, you will provide professional services to facilitate education research excellence within the University. You will be proactive and crucial to growing the quality and scale of education research funding applications. You will catalyse the development of high quality funding proposals by embedding best practices in education research grant applications/developments. In addition, you will communicate education research matters to different levels of audiences. Specific roles include:

  • Developing research support policies, resources and administrative processes
  • Developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., faculty, potential grantors of research)
  • Producing technical reports based on literature reviews or data analyses to catalyse research ideas
  • Translating research outputs into actionables such as report briefs, policy and/or practitioner artefacts
  • Undertaking sector analysis to identify potential collaborators and funder needs/demands, monitoring grant calls/opportunities, and partnering faculty to direct research funding priorities
  • Monitoring/reporting and advising research project timelines and budget utilisation rates
  • Promoting research outcomes and efforts via coordinating and facilitating professional learning networks among faculty
  • Supporting internal research peer review processes
  • Developing and delivering key performance indicators relevant to education research within the university
  • Identifying research needs of faculty and developing cognate research/evidenced-based toolkits, resources and activities
  • Strengthening research proposals and submissions of reports and relevant documents to internal and external stakeholders by critiquing and contributing to non-technical/technical content, and ensuring applications comply with appropriate criteria (e.g., grant call requirements)
Job Requirements
  • Have qualifications relevant to education and/or teaching and learning
  • Have demonstrable experience in relating to researchers across disciplines
  • Have demonstrable quantitative and/or qualitative research skills
  • Have demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects within tight timelines
  • Are a good team player with the ability to work independently
  • Are proactive, meticulous, and resourceful
  • Have strong communication, writing and presentation skills
  • Have a collaborative and collegial approach to work
It would be desirable to know about/have:
  • in-depth knowledge of relevant research funders
