Neste is the number one producer of renewable diesel from waste and residues and aims to maintain this global leadership by further growing the raw material pool and production platforms. To support these ambitious targets we set up an Innovation Centre in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The new APAC Innovation Centre is located in Science Park II in the west part of Singapore. Once operational, the centre will focus on analytical and feedstock research as well as partnerships and opportunities for new innovations in the APAC area. Approximately 40 researchers and other professionals will be hired gradually from 2022 to 2025 to the Innovation centre, which will be fully operational from 2023 onwards.

We are looking for a Researcher/Senior Researcher, Feedstock and Pre-treatment to join our Feedstock and Pre-treatment team in Neste Asia Pacific (APAC) Innovation Centre Singapore.

We are now seeking a highly motivated and capable person to join the F&P team and drive the establishment of the Neste APAC Innovation Centre in Singapore. An essential part of the F&P team's work is to develop purification technologies for Neste's raw material base expansion. We also participate in troubleshooting activities.

The position requires a 1-3 weeks induction period in Finland.

Your part in Neste journey

In this role, your main responsibilities include

• Impact on introducing F&P laboratory to the APAC Innovation Centre.
• Develop purification technologies for renewable raw materials, e.g. waste and residue oils and fats and other sustainable raw materials and research tasks related to supply and production site support.
• Design, plan and supervise experiments followed by collecting, analysing and reporting data obtained.
• Actively participate in IPR creation and innovation work.
• Support long term strategy work for sustainable raw materials.
• Develop pre-treatment related research partnerships in the APAC area.

You will work closely with Neste R&D in Finland e.g. Feedstock and Pre-treatment and NEXBTL technology platform departments. You will work in cross-functional teams with other researchers, development engineers and project managers from R&D, Innovation and stakeholders in e.g. Renewable Products' supply and production, and also with external partners. Our work combines accountability, cooperation, and the desire to develop and renew. Working safely at all times is essential to all of us.

You will report to the R&D Manager, F&P of APAC Innovation Centre.

Keys to success in this role

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is

• At least Master's degree in relevant field, e.g. Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Biotechnology
• At least 5 years relevant experience of experimental research, at least 10 years for senior role
• Chemistry and reaction knowhow, preferably related to fats and oils
• Relevant research outputs such as scientific / technical publications or IPR
• Excellent cooperation skills
• Excellent communication skills in English, including presentation and report writing
• Proactivity, can-do attitude and a high motivation to get things done

Organising skills and ability to manage several tasks at the same time

We also value

• Experience in acting in international environment
• Knowledge of technologies used for biofuel feedstocks purification
• Previous work experience related to renewable oils and fats processing chains, particularly to pre-treatment
• Excellent data handling skills, e.g. Excel, Sheets, Mintab
• Experience in IPR creation
• Courage to express own views and give recommendations
• Relevant collaborative networks to companies, research institutes and individuals
