Job Summary
The Retail Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily store operations, ensuring smooth workflow, and supporting staff in delivering excellent service. The ideal candidate is experienced in retail grocery, understands traditional dried goods, and is comfortable managing both front-line staff and stock handling.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies
Support and coach retail staff to deliver high standards of customer service
Assist in managing inventory levels, including receiving, stocking, rotation, and quality control of dry goods
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally
Ensure store cleanliness, organization, and safety at all times
Conduct daily opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and sales reporting
Coordinate promotions and seasonal product displays
Monitor product expiry and freshness, especially for delicate items like dried seafood and herbs
Report sales, staffing, and operational issues to management regularly
Train new employees on product knowledge, especially on traditional and their uses
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; further education in retail management or related fields is a plus
Experience: Minimum 2 years of retail experience, preferably in grocery or traditional food retail; 1+ year in a supervisory or team lead role
Strong understanding of traditional Chinese dried goods
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to manage and motivate a small team
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Physically fit - able to lift stock, move boxes, and stand for long periods
