Job Description


:

The person is primarily responsible to support the Country CRO in ensuring optimal quality, analysis, and management of the credit portfolio while maintaining robust credit risk framework, evaluating creditworthiness of Corporate and Commercial clients, and implementing effective strategies to enhance overall portfolio performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enhance Shareholders\' Value (Financial):

  • Support Singapore CRO/Credit Head and to work closely with Singapore Finance in complying with Group and regulatory credit standards as well as Basel and FRS requirements.
  • Support Singapore CRO/Credit Head in credit provision management for Corporate and Commercial business in a forward-looking manner.
  • Support Singapore Credit Head in managing loan portfolio quality to minimize GIL ratios.
  • Ensures optimal allocation of capital in line with regulatory requirements and the bank\'s risk appetite.
  • Early identification potential problem cases with well-placed strategies to protect bank\'s interests.
Internal Business Process:
  • Incorporate development, implementation and maintenance of risk management frameworks and policies in line with the retail business environment and products.
  • Develop and review risk appetite models to implement managed business growth in line with Group risk appetite.
  • Establish, monitor and manage portfolio risk activities through the application of Analytics, Risk Infrastructure and MIS.
  • Support Singapore CRO in local Country Risk reporting to local regulator.
  • Ensuring compliance and business writing standard in business segments and Singapore Risk Appetite Statements and dashboards.
  • Initiate and provide ad-hoc analysis of portfolio/segment reviews based on trend analysis, macro-economic and industry trends, current events and regulatory changes or policy/strategy changes, to support business in mitigating risks.
  • Effective implementation of Risk strategy and Risk Governance framework and processes aligned to regulatory and Group policy requirement.
  • Potential problem cases/risks are identified early with well placed strategies to protect bank\'s interests. Effective processes and tools in place to measure and maintain risk-return balance.
Customer:
  • Ensure close coordination with Group/Country counterpart relationships are strategically forward looking, highly collaborative and productive.
  • Work in collaboration and consultation with key country and regional stakeholders to implement stress testing/back testing on credit portfolio.
  • Ensure timely resolution of key risks to effectively mitigate the financial and reputation risks to the business.
  • Work in collaboration with relationship managers to enable a sound and sensible credit decision be made with effective alignment of business strategy and credit appetite.
  • Increase awareness with all BUs on the key risks and responsibilities.
  • Promote Risk as an active role in supporting CIMB Singapore\'s strategic initiatives.
  • Streamline and simplify Risk requirements to enable easy understanding and align with business strategy.
  • Align with business strategy and develop a customer focused and responsive approach.
  • Reliever and backup to any team member absence.
Employee Engagement & Development:
  • Support Singapore CRO & Credit Risk team to promote an environment that fosters mutual understanding of CIMB risk culture, risk responsibility, and business practices. Ensure team and individual performance is managed in an open and honest manner.
  • Assist in providing training of risk policy and procedures to other risk team members and Bus to raise quality of credit applications, management, and control.
  • Promote knowledge-sharing of ideas about what works and to assist others to focus on identifying ways to do things differently to promote better outcomes for customers and the business.
  • Improve Risk & Business Stakeholders\' risk capability through training and coaching.
  • Constructive contribution at forums and committees.
  • Leadership: Role model collaboration and constructiveness that empowers and motivates the team.
Credit Portfolio Manager Specific
  • Further develop and improve the structure and requirements of the Corporate & Commercial Risk datamarts and data infrastructure.
  • Prepare artefacts in accordance to Group Risk\'s / Singapore Consumer\'s project lifecycle framework and documents.
  • Track project status, especially tasks to ensure delivery is on track. Provide regular project update to stakeholders and management.
  • Prepare project initiation documents e.g. internal memo, budget application.
  • Define relevant project scope, formulate detail project plan and seek stakeholder\'s agreement for sign off.
  • Document portfolio reviews and deep-dive analysis and providing insights and recommendation to senior management.
  • Highlight and escalate risk issues to relevant parties in a timely manner.
  • Enhance Retail Risk Monitoring to ensure that all the key portfolio performance indicators and triggers are monitored regularly.
  • Enhance Portfolio management frameworks by introducing applicable metrics that drive business decisions in the overall credit risk process/strategies.
  • Support preparation information requests from internal/external auditor and regulator/s.
  • Support regional/country risk projects that may require ad hoc queries relevant to the portfolio being managed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Min. Bachelor\'s Degree with relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years in Corporate Banking risk and portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with Risk Infrastructure supporting Corporate and Commercial banking businesses.
  • Familiar with Corporate and Commercial banking in Asia region.
  • Experience on decision making: Endorsement/Approval on credit matters.
Technical/Functional skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Retail products and services, including the rules and regulations in the domestic and international landscapes.
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills, required in guiding and assisting teams in putting forward proposals whenever necessary
  • Leverages best practice in portfolio management and data-driven analysis.
  • Effective, commercial experience in running a business unit/s
Soft Competencies
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, required in guiding and assisting teams in executing projects and tasks whenever necessary
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills, required in guiding and assisting teams in putting forward proposals whenever necessary
  • Good reputation and business network in the Corporate and Commercial Banking community
