Job Description


Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Implementing the Safety Management System and to ensure compliance by the site personnel as well as the various trades from sub-contractors, including clients’ safety requirements and local legislations.

  • Responsible for project EHS management planning and derivation of programmes to continually improve EHS performance.

  • Assist the projects to identify and develop best practices to incorporate to the organizational Safe Work Procedure.

  • Advise project management and site management on matters pertaining to EHS.

  • To recommend to the project team the various training required for the personnel to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to enable them to perform their duties in a safe and productive manner. Beside recommendation, also to assist, analyse and develop the various training needs for company personnel.

  • To assist the ESH department to identify, record, investigate and analyse any incident which resulted in injury, property damage, near miss or dangerous occurrence to prevent recurrence and to provide advice on the remedial measures.

  • To assist the organization to maintain records of safety promotion and to promote safety awareness to all personnel attached to the worksite.

  • Organize EHS programs and activities to promote safe and healthy conduct of workers.

  • Conducts training needs analysis and delivers project EHS training;

  • Manage and ensure the safety department record and maintain documented procedures, plan, motivate, lead and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance to legal legislations and organizational EHS requirements.

  • Assist the Client and Main Contractor to establish risk assessment by identifying hazards and to recommend control measures to minimize the risks at project site.

  • To establish an emergency response plan for the project site to ensure effective evacuation of personnel to the assembly area if an emergency occurred.

  • Report and liaise with the management, relevant authorities on incident occurrence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Specialist Diploma in Workplace, Safety and Health is required.

  • Candidate must be a registered Workplace, Safety & Health Officer and Environmental Control Officer.

  • Candidate must completed ACTA (Advance certificate in training and assessment)

  • Candidate must completed WAH and confined space assessor course.

  • Candidate must have at least 5 years of post-registration experience working in various Health, Safety and Environmental related construction roles on large scale construction project site.

  • Candidate must obtain class 3 Driving licence.

  • Candidate able to communicate different languages. Advantages to be able to speak Bengali and Tamil Languages as a minimum.

  • Possess knowledge and experience in related construction industry.

  • Advantages with engineering background e.g. Civil/Mechanical/Electrical.

  • EHS experience in Manufacturing/Oil and Gas Plant environment

  • OHSAS 18001/ ISO 14001 Lead/ Internal Auditor or Workplace Safety and Health Auditor trained preferred

  • Good Knowledge of EHS legal requirements and Industry best practices

  • 6 days’ work week.
