The Sales Manager / Event Sales Manager carry out all aspects of a profit and service driven sales department and prospect and sells to individual accounts on behalf of the hotel in accordance with the objectives established in the marketing plan. He/she will ensure that sales activities, top accounts and bookings are focused to yield maximum rooms and catering revenue.
Your day-to-day
Develop new sales opportunities and build a robust sales platform and manage assigned account base in order to generate revenue and maximise performance both for the short and long term in line with sales target.
Conduct active market research and intelligence for the hotel to provide feedback on competitors, market trends and identifying new business potentials.
Research marketplace and pursue opportunities for potential new accounts.
Manage assigned account base to exceed targets for total revenue in Rooms and Catering.
Maintain flexibility to perform other duties and projects as required and as directed by leadership team as deemed necessary to support Hotels overall business objectives.
Maintain strong presence in the local community by participating in business / industry organisations, associations and developing a broad external network.
Liaise proactively with business support and revenue team for optimised pricing strategy and support for exceptional service delivery from operations teams of Front Office, Housekeeping and Food & Beverage to deliver exemplary guest service.
Develop and maintain contact with key decision makers, influencers, meeting planners, event organisers, associations and other producers closely aligned to each business unit.
Respond to all groups enquiries and work with groups, meetings and events team to drive business conversion.
Develop, acquire and retain customers business and establish cordial relations for repeat business.
Drive digital bookings via brand website and conversion of bookers to IHG One Rewards members loyalty program.
Monitor and report on sales activity undertaken and measurement of results through maintaining of accurate records in the sales tools and action plans.
Work closely with Sales leader and Revenue Management to ensure that pricing and yield management principles are being communicated and implemented.
Monitor competitor practices and accounts, monthly RGI scorecards and diagnostic tools in order to understand competitor trends.
Prepare group proposals (meetings and catering requirements), engage in negotiations and confirmation of business through contracting.
Extended arm in meeting and banquet efforts to maximise revenue, profit, and the satisfaction of Guests and vendor relations.
Acquire new business opportunities and maintain existing business relationships with accounts.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Sales or the management.
What we need from you
Diploma/ Degree in related discipline
3 years of corporate sales experience in the hotel industry with events background will be an advantage
Understand sales strategy as developed by revenue management and set action plan to these strategies.
Strong knowledge of Hotel Sales and Catering Systems.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer development and relationship management skills.
Self-motivated and results-focused
A positive and keen to learn attitude
Must be proficient in written and spoken English and with good communication skills. Mandarin speaking will be an advantage.
