What the role is:School of Engineering - Research Staff (Multifunctional Coatings for Better Energy Efficiency)What you will be working on:Project Overview:A research project initiated by Republic Polytechnic is seeking a full time Research Staff for a duration of 12 months. In this work, you will be involved in the development work related to the optimization of sputtering growth conditions, characterization and performance testing of multifunctional optical coatings for solar and building applications.Key Responsibilities:

• Work on fabrication, characterization and performance testing of metal oxide-based multilayer coating for solar and building applications.

• Work closely with Project Leader (PL), Co-project Leader (Co-PL) and industry collaborator to fulfil the required deliverables in the multifunctional optical coating research project.

• Assist the PL to fulfil the required project deliverables, and purchase of project parts and services in line with Republic Polytechnic\'s procurement guidelines.

• Assist in the supervision of student projects.

• Support outreach events such as exhibitions and roadshows.

What we are looking for:

• Qualification in physics, electrical / mechanical / materials engineering or a related discipline.

• Prior experience with sputtering thin film deposition and characterization of metal oxide-based multilayer optical coating.

• Working experience on various characterization techniques (such as SEM, AFM, ellipsometer and sand abrasion & scratch tests).

• Possess excellent initiative, good multi-tasking skills with a strong sense of responsibility for completing assigned duties on time.

• Ability to work independently, as well as being an excellent team player.

• Have published papers in internationally peer-reviewed journals and be able to write scientific reports and contribute to writing research papers.
