[What the role is]
School of Applied Science - Research Scientist (Aquaculture)
[What you will be working on]
Carry out research work on sustainable aquaculture (e.g. nutrition, optimization of operations, diagnostics, health, genetics).
Work with the project leader and co-project leaders to achieve the aim of the research projects.Lead and assist on projects involving fish health, diagnostics, genetics, aquaculture nutrition and circular economy.
Support the procurement of consumables and equipment.
Plan and coordinate feeding trials; data collection, sampling, sample processing, analysis, and logistics, etc. in addition to husbandry.
To liaise with industry collaborators and conduct project work independently
Conduct courses and supervise students in their project/internship
[What we are looking for]
Relevant qualification in life science, Aquaculture, Agriculture, molecular biology, nutrition and circular economy.
Experience in aquaculture operations and/or research would be an added advantage
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levels.
Possess sound planning, organising, good multi-tasking skills, with a strong sense of responsibility for completing assigned duties on time.
Proficient in IT skills.
Good documentation skills, laboratory techniques, research and data analysis skills.
Successful candidate will be employed on a contract basis.
