Job Description


  • 4 to 7 years of total experience including min 2 years gained as an auditor. Some hands-on accounting experience gained in a dynamic MNC is required
  • Regional exposure is also highly preferred
  • Proficient in IFRS with exposure to consolidation or investment accounting dealing with overseas entities; experience in SAP and GST matters will be advantageous but not a must
Our client is an investment firm focusing on infrastructure projects across Asia. As a (Senior) Accountant, you will play a key role in finance related matters for the firm, its subsidiaries and joint ventures. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, in ensuring the completion and accuracy of financial reporting related to day-to-day operations and investment projects, while being in compliance with the local tax/audit regulatory requirements.

The deliverables of this role to the finance department will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the business. This position will require a person of integrity and commitment, as well as the maturity in exercising ownership and judgement over matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Tax (a)Financial Review - Ensure timely and accurate preparation of audited financial statements, management accounts and financial reports, and review accounting procedures as necessary.

(b)Month-End Closing - Review and assist in month end closing of the co’s accounts, and other Group accounts, working closely with outsourced accounting service provider, developers and local accountants.

(c) Due Diligence - Work with external advisors on due diligence on accounting and tax matters for project investments and divestments.

(d) Tax Planning & Compliance - Ensure that the firm and all related entities are tax compliant. Assist the Finance Manager to oversee tax planning, filing and review, and work with external advisors as required.

(e) Project Structure & Incorporation – Help to review projects’ investment structure and manage incorporation of the firm’s Asia entities for new project investments. Work with internal teams and professional firms on structuring and incorporation of the Asia’s entities for new project investments as and when required. Assist with the review of various agreements to be entered into by the company (e.g. developer services agreement, joint development agreement, loan agreement, shareholders’ agreement etc.) from a finance and commercial perspective, and ensure investment/divestment transactions are properly records in accounts.

(f)Company, Project Accounting & Audit - Liaise with internal team, outsourced and project companies’ accountants, tax service providers and auditors for finance related matters for the Asia group entities incorporated in various mandated countries in Asia.

(g) Outsource Provider Management

Management & Financial Reporting (a) Management, Financial & Risk Reporting – Assist in the preparation of consolidation, financial statements and annual filings for the co’s Asia group and manage year-end audit process within the parent co and statutory deadlines with auditors, outsourced providers and partners. Support in the preparation of financial and risk management reports for boards, board committees and the parent co . Assist in the preparation of board papers on finance related issues and decisions undertaken by the company for the boards.

(b) Project Financial Review – Assist to review project financial reports prepared by the developer teams or project company management and provide analysis of expenditure against approved budgets. Review financial reports submitted by the Asia group entities

(c) Reporting - Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.

Developer/Project Company Management (a) Budgets & Reporting - Review investment proposals and project budgets. Liaise with developer/project teams in relation to annual budgeting, year to date spending and forecasts, quarterly reporting etc

(b) Financial Oversight - Oversight and review of monthly invoices from developers and suppliers against budgets and recommend approvals for payments.

(c) Audit & Compliance - Monitor financial compliance by developers/projects and support the coordinating/performing of potential audits/internal reviews and other financial matters.

(d) Entity Setup - Work closely with developer/project teams on the set up of new entities and controls for new project investments undertaken.

Business Plan, Budgeting & Forecast a)Business/Operating Planning - Support the preparation of Business Plan and Annual Operating Plan for the organization and assist Senior Management as required.

(b) Budget Planning & Review - Support the preparation of the annual corporate budget for senior management and board approval, monitoring of performance against budget as required.

(c) Forecast & Cash Flow Management - Review company payments and expense claims as needed in compliance with company policies and procedures. Manage payments in relation to capital calls for investments by the firm in accordance with shareholder/ investment agreements.

ǪUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCY REǪUIREMENTS Ǫualifications & Experience
  • CPA with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field from a reputable university;
  • 4 to 7 years of total experience including min 2 years gained as an auditor. Some hands-on accounting experience gained in a dynamic MNC is required
  • Regional exposure is also highly preferred
  • Experience in infrastructure sector, working with international development institutions and/or regional experience in Asia would be a plus but not a must
  • Proficient in IFRS with exposure to consolidation or investment accounting dealing with overseas entities; experience in SAP and GST matters will be advantageous but not a must
  • Prior exposure in a finance business partner role for corporate related investment projects eg. financial and tax due diligence and financial modelling will be highly advantageous;
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and advanced skills in Excel;
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment essential
