Job Description


What the role is:The CDA is a new government agency that is being established by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to oversee Singapore\'s communicable disease preparedness, prevention and control, surveillance, risk assessment and outbreak response. The CDA PO\'s role is to plan and execute the setup of the CDA, which will consolidate and build on the public health functions under MOH, the National Centre for Infectious Diseases, and the Health Promotion Board. You will provide leadership and supervision to the team of epidemiologists in the design, implementation, and data analysis of epidemiological studies, to deliver rigorous, timely and credible data-backed insights which support evidence-based policy making and decision as well as public health interventions. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.What you will be working on:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the team of epidemiologists in the design, implementation, and data analysis of epidemiological studies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Support the design and conduct of socio-behavioural studies to understand the impact of social and behavioural risk factors on the prevention and transmission of communicable diseases and the impact of interventions in peacetime and crises. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide epidemiological and analytical inputs on the design and implementation of new surveillance programmes. \xe2\x80\xa2 Guide the team in the crafting of data-backed recommendations for policy formulation and public health operations, based on review of literature and outcomes of conducted studies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Guide the team in the conduct of above-baseline biostatistical analyses of communicable disease outbreaks and provide epidemiological inputs to disease monitoring and evaluation programs. \xe2\x80\xa2 Rapid analyses during disease outbreaks and epidemics, lead the conduct of rapid analyses to determine pathogen characteristics including transmissibility. \xe2\x80\xa2 Clinical epidemiology and analytics support provided to NCID. Contribute to the delivery of the requested clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, and data analysis support to NCID. \xe2\x80\xa2 Manage day-to-day operations of the team, including overseeing performance management and fostering professional development of the team.
What we are looking for:
  • Minimally tertiary education in recognised degree preferably degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or a related field. \xe2\x80\xa2 Doctoral degree preferred. \xe2\x80\xa2 Technical proficiency in biostatistics. \xe2\x80\xa2 At least 5 years in the field of public health, biostatistics, or epidemiology. \xe2\x80\xa2 At least 2 years in a leadership role. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in conducting advanced epidemiologic studies and applying biostatistical methods in data analysis. \xe2\x80\xa2 Track record of publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals on epidemiologic studies or other relevant studies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong communication, writing and presentation skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Analytical, detail-oriented, and responsible. \xe2\x80\xa2 Possess good time/priority management, resilient and flexible under the pressure. \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment. \xe2\x80\xa2 Good interpersonal and team management skills, and strong stakeholder management experience. As part of the shortlisting process for this role, candidates may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
