Senior BA / Solution Architect in Energy and Commodities Trading

Our team

Our team in Singapore works with tier one Energy, Metals + Mining and Agricultural traders to help client to deliver complex strategic, digital and operational change projects. Our deep content expertise is recognised by our clients and means that they come to us to help with their most important or challenging problems.

What will you be doing?

You will be working on energy and commodities trading projects and will be responsible for applying your industry subject matter expertise across projects - both commodities industry knowledge and digital architecture expertise to drive and enhance the quality of project deliverables. Some examples of the work you will be involved in day-to-day include:

Helping clients to design complex trading system architectures, including identification and selection of systems, scoping interfaces, and determining the appropriate functional footprint per system in the context of the overall architecture

Supporting the structuring and planning of programmes to deliver architectural change across systems and processes. Providing subject matter expertise insight to support the planning, scoping, resourcing and costing of complex change projects

Ensuring quality of design deliverables and making sure overall solutions hang together from front to back.

Leading and managing teams of Business Analysts to design operational and digital solutions

Providing subject matter expertise insights across client projects and internal initiatives to help to accelerate or reduce risk

Some examples of the types of projects you might be involved in are listed below:

Trading operating model and process design

Trading digital architecture design & roadmap planning

Systems selection, and implementation advisory - especially of C/ETRM

In addition, you\'ll lead some internal \'grow the business\' activities such as teaching and training the junior team members, developing thought leadership for external publishing and speaking at industry events.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the commodities and energy trading sector and how digital technology can helps traders to deliver value. You have a curious, entrepreneurial and supportive mindset and are excited about the prospect of helping to grow Baringa\'s business in Singapore.

The experience, knowledge and skills we are looking for in a candidate are:

Experience

6-12 years of experience working in commodities trading industry in Architecture or BA type roles on change projects/ programmes

Has extensive hands-on experience of at least 2 of the following types of system:

E/CTRM (Energy/ Commodities Trading & risk Management) System

VMS (Voyage Management System)

other type of system common to commodity trading systems architectures.

Preferably has performed roles where has been responsible for the complete design of a multi-systems architecture

Preferably has designed interfaces between systems and can demonstrate a good understanding of different modern interfacing technologies

Experience of leading teams - ideally
3 direct reports.

A track record in building effective relationships both internally and externally to contribute to the growth of the business

Knowledge

Thorough understanding of the following commodities trading business capabilities:

Typical contract-to-cash process for Physical commodities trades

Risk and performance metrics that Commodity Trading companies use to measure and govern their businesses

Can demonstrate subject matter expertise across more than 1 different physical commodity class

Understands commodities trading systems architecture, specifically the typical suite of tools and applications in a modern architecture and the expected functional footprint of each

Has familiarly with several different vendor products relevant to commodities trading architectures

Has familiarly with modern data tools and capabilities, including but not limited to: interfacing technologies, data extraction and analysis technologies, data visualisation tools.

Soft Skills

Curious, self-driven and enjoys teaching others

Excellent communication and presentation skills and a track record of effective team working

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Comfortable with uncertainty, flexibility, and supporting across a range of different internal initiatives in conjunction with primary client project

A track record in building effective relationships both internally and externally to contribute to the growth of the business

Finally, it is highly desirable that candidates can work in Singapore.
