Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Capital and Liquidity Risk Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for providing independent risk oversight of capital and liquidity risk management for HSBC entities in South East Asia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore(in supporting capacity) and act as regional point of contact of Global Treasury Climate Working Group for Capital and Liquidity Risk
  • Review capital & liquidity risk management policies, procedures, Individual Liquidity Adequacy Assessment (ILAA) and Individual Capital Adequacy Assessment (ICAAP), metrics and limits and controls to ensure they are within the defined corporate standards approved by the Board and ALCO
  • Review and challenge stress testing process for both capital and liquidity. Review including, but not limited to, the scenarios that are chosen for the stress tests and key modelling assumptions made. Perform and document independent analysis on the assumptions to ensure independent viewpoint. Support and refine existing stress model assumptions and controls (limits, guidelines, model framework)
  • Utilize analysis supplemented by expert judgment and qualitative evaluation, to drive a programme of validation and independent review that meets the requirements and framework as defined by Group policy
  • Work with Finance, Risk, and Markets Treasury to ensure requisite support for activities, including consistencies in framework, methodologies, and reporting and improved liquidity management analysis in external reporting
  • Provide senior management, regulators and internal audit sufficient comfort that the requirement of a capital & liquidity second line of defence is met. Ensure key issues are escalated in a timely manner to country Risk and Regional Risk teams
  • Keep current on regulations relating to Capital & Liquidity Risk management. Engage with local regulators on key capital and liquidity risk issues. Review new product proposals to ensure that these take into account Capital and Liquidity risks
Requirements
  • Practical experience of managing Capital and Liquidity Risk, either in a first or second line role, within the HSBC group, either at branch level (or equivalent) or as part of larger Treasury desk, or its equivalent at a competition bank.
  • Good working knowledge of Global and Regional Liquidity and Capital Regulations. Practical experience of capital and/or liquidity stress testing
  • Working across all levels of an organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the business unit level.
  • Good knowledge of banking products, funding markets and products and collateral management.
  • Good knowledge of cross market funding, and asset transformation.
  • Good understanding of other areas e.g. Finance, Accounting, Operational, Legal, etc.
  • Mathematically numerate, a good communicator, with a pragmatic solution provider approach.
