UK P&I & Defence Club Senior Claims Executive – Singapore / Tokyo

Overall Objective of the Role: To handle a caseload consisting of P&I and Defence Club matters and to provide legal advice to Japanese Members based in Singapore, as well as Japan. Responsibilities will include account management, direct Member engagement and broker interaction, assisting with marketing and the provision of advice directly to Japanese Members, as well as supporting and working in conjunction with the Tokyo and Imabari offices in Japan.

Key Expectations:

• Investigate, analyse, assess, negotiate and settle claims within operational guidelines.

• Provide a highly effective and Member focused service, responding to all queries quickly and accurately taking in to account individual Member requirements.

• Undertaking contract reviews and advise on insurance cover issues.

• Liaise effectively with underwriting, loss prevention and management teams to ensure all internal stakeholders are kept fully advised of claim and Member developments.

• Coordinate claims locally and globally with other regional offices as required.

• Regular participation in and contribution to internal and external training events, claims forum meetings, publications etc.

• Prepare technical presentations and workshops and deliver talks externally to members and brokers.

• Assist in the preparation and writing of UK Club publications

• Engage in occasional project work on claims or other matters

• Participate in the mobile duty rota.

• Work effectively within a team, sharing skills as necessary.

• Case and member related travel
  

• Qualified lawyer with maritime experience in a law firm or P&I Club or marine / marine insurance sectors.

• Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese, both verbal and written.

• Strong analytical and organisational skills.

• Able to operate effectively within a team environment and to demonstrate leadership when required.

• Able to demonstrate effective client / key account management skills.

• Effective at working under pressure and balancing competing workload demands.

• To rapidly become fully familiar with the Rules of both Clubs and with internal procedures and policies.
