Department purpose Our integrated regional marketing, business development and communication team in APAC contributes to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which include improving our client relationships, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients’ trusted advisers.

Role purpose We are looking to expand our specialist communications and campaigns function in APAC with the addition of a senior executive to support the delivery of bold, insightful and strategic communication & BD campaigns. This role will focus on leveraging various media and digital marketing platforms (such as social media, video, website and more) to deliver high-quality end-to end integrated market-facing campaigns for the region. The role will also have primary regional responsibility for managing the website, SEO and any other strategies (such as Google Ads) to achieve maximum market penetration and engagement from campaigns including using Google Analytics to track engagement and look for opportunities to improve user journeys that may lead to new work generated from online activity. The role will also be responsible for working closely with the BD function to adapt existing copy or create new copy to support campaign activities for the firm’s website, reports, brochures, social media or other collateral that optimises SEO.

This expansion reflects the desire to proactively profile and differentiate the Allen & Overy brand in each of the APAC locations. This role will be based in Singapore.

Job description Role and responsibilities Working closely with the Senior Communication and Campaigns Manager for APAC, the role will focus on advising and supporting the following broad objectives, addressing both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to promote the brand in key APAC markets as well as to protect the brand
  • Working with the business development team to understand marketing goals, challenges, perception gaps, and then advising on the development and execution of bold and insightful media and digital campaigns, which are well thought-out and measurable.
  • Working closely with local and regional champions for Diversity & Inclusion, Pro Bono & Community Investment, and Mental Health to profile the brand and build community support internally and externally.
  • Identity opportunities to support the A&O Employer brand alongside local HR teams.
  • Identifying opportunities to leverage global thought leadership/campaigns at an APAC level aligned with the global and regional strategy.
  • Helping to embed best practice in communications across the APAC region.
  • Remain innovative as a function to ensure our communications efforts help A&O standout amongst our competitors as well as ensure we remain focus on being the most advanced law firm.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing our brand and visual identity across our APAC offices which includes working with the regional design agency to design brochures, advertisements, banners, social media cards etc.
  • Liaising with BD, partners and associates on a regular basis to source key themes, market trends and developments to proactively promoting the firm’s expertise and insight via media and digital channels.
  • Working with the Senior Marketing & Comms Manager and BD to develop insightful, engaging integrated campaigns encompassing a variety of communications channels in alignment with the firm’s regional growth priorities.
  • Manage the A&O WeChat account, which would involve working closely with our Hong Kong and China-based BD team to develop content pipeline and conceptualise ideas to enhance engagement.
  • Serving as our brand ambassador for our social media channels: LinkedIn, WeChat and Twitter and coaching internal stakeholders on best practice.
  • Drafting, managing and uploading APAC content on the various A&O LinkedIn channels. Draft and design content for maximum engagement, filter incoming requests for social media posts and be able to influence the best possible outcome for the firm and internal stakeholders.
  • Managing the firm’s engagement with media and providing strategic counsel for internal stakeholders when engaging with media. This role would also involve identifying potential angles for media engagement with Chinese and English language media outlets to proactively pitch content ideas and filter incoming enquiries; draft and issue press releases; manage our key media relationships.
  • Website content development, management and publication of the APAC-related English and Chinese-language content.
  • Ensuring activity is measurable and data driven; and utilise this insight to improve and influence future initiatives.
  • Preparing and/or coordinating Awards and Directory submissions for APAC.
  • Using the firm’s internal communications channels to educate the global and/or regional network communicate successes and significant business updates.

Key requirements
  • B.A (Communications or Journalism)
  • Familiarity and/or proven experience / use of a digital marketing stack including
  • A comprehensive understanding of best practice use of SEO strategy and ability to use and apply analytic tools and metrics to evaluate and assess impact of campaigns and online engagement (e.g. Google Analytics).
  • Passion for copywriting
  • Proven experience (minimum of 4 years) in developing and executing high quality, innovative marketing campaigns applying a combination of traditional/digital marketing channels.
  • Demonstrated media relations experience, particularly in successfully building profile and managing potential risks.
  • Strong organisational/project management skills with the ability to plan ahead and execute to task.
  • Excellent track record of working with senior management within a complex, matrixed organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels and to influence senior management.
  • Ability to present a point of view, convince and articulate clearly – both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong track record of using initiative and creativity to conceptualise, execute and influence on strategic projects/campaigns.
  • Able to deal with multiple priorities and urgent situations as they arise; the ability to be flexible when needed to adapt to fast changing dynamics; resilient under pressure.
  • Friendly and approachable to all levels of staff.
  • International outlook and understanding of cultural nuances of doing business in the APAC region.
  • Able to be discrete and handle sensitive/confidential information.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to nurture and work in a fast paced, intellectually rigorous environment.
  • High-energy individual who enjoys both the operational and strategic sides of this role and shows great flexibility.
  • A person of sound judgment, able to establish a high level of credibility in the organisation and act as a trusted advisor to management.
Who we are looking for:
  • A commercial individual who is intellectually curious, strategic in thinking and has experience delivering integrated, multi-channel, digital marketing campaigns with ability to track, measure impact and report on results.
  • Experienced in using a range of digital marketing platforms and tools (e.g. Content Management tools, WeChat, LinkedIn, Google Analytics, Oktopost, Hootsuite etc),
  • Ability to create and edit content that optimises SEO for websites, understands how to take business development initiatives within a professional services environment and deliver end-to-end marketing campaigns that drive engagement with target audiences.
  • Familiarity with video editing technology; filming and production.
  • An individual who is keen to listen, learn and engage with internal stakeholders to make an impact and add value.
  • Someone with experience and an understanding of traditional media and social media (opportunities and risks).
  • Someone who has an understanding of and is interested in media, news and editorial priorities.
  • Takes ownership of tasks and can meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English
