IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices.

The area comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC's technology strategy to support the Group's goals.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Control Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

A Market Chief Control Office (CCO) role in Singapore with key focuses on advise, design, and oversight:

  • Identify and deliver Market CCO risk and control agenda
  • Represent Market CCO in ASP working forums, where required, and ensure Market's position is represented clearly in these forums
  • Engage and partner with Market stakeholders, including Chief Operating Officers (COO), Digital Business Services (DBS) Functions, Global Business and Functions as 1LOD, Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) as 2LOD, and Internal Audit as 3LOD
  • Prepare Market level governance meeting, such as Risk & Control Management Meeting (RCMM)
  • Prepare Market risk and control related papers, for Risk Management Meeting (RMM), Board, and Non-Financial Risk Management Board (NFRMB) First Line Report
  • Support oversight of Singapore level programme delivery, e.g. Polaris, Operational Resilience
  • Provide oversight to entity-owned Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) refresh
  • Support ad hoc risk and control events, where required
  • Advise ASP Risk Scenario refresh and analysis, where required
  • Advise and challenge inefficient and ineffective process or excessive control design
  • Advise and design process and controls in a commercial, practical and effective manner
  • Design and drive improvements to risk and control information metrics
  • Promote and advise risk and control decision-making base on quality data analytics
  • Set tone from the top with Singapore DBS senior management, promote risk and control mind set, culture and behaviour
  • Lead by example, demonstrate CCO behaviour and HSBC's values of teamwork, value differences, take responsibilities, and get things done
Requirements
  • Degree in Business or Engineering
  • Flexible and adaptable, being able to handle and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of Risk Management and or Audit in financial services industry, ideally obtained from cross-functions
  • Being methodical in planning and project management
  • Strong written and presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills; to be able to guide, influence, and challenge stakeholders.
  • Ability to simplify complex and technical matters, and articulate in simple language and in a succinct manner
  • Ability to provide practical and commercially viable risk and control advice
  • Ability to perform in depth root cause analysis and design preventive solutions to address root causes
  • A desire to find ways to continually improve and streamline the service delivered
  • Deep understanding of process and control mapping and design
  • Experience in identifying, defining and solving problems that impact a function and the wider business
  • Ability to deliver insightful risk and control information, via data analytics
