The Senior Cook supports the Head or Chief Cook in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This role is responsible for preparing meals, supervising junior kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards, and assisting in menu planning and inventory control. The Senior Cook acts as a lead during service periods and ensures consistency in food quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
Assist the Chief Cook in overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow.
Supervise and guide junior cooks and kitchen assistants.
Ensure kitchen cleanliness and maintain proper hygiene practices.
Monitor and manage food inventory, including proper storage and usage of ingredients.
Assist with menu planning and daily meal preparation schedules.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and internal standards.
Check quality of raw and cooked food to ensure standards are met.
Coordinate with service staff to ensure timely and accurate food service.
Step in for the Chief Cook during absences or busy periods.

Education & Experience:
Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a cooking role, preferably with some supervisory duties.
* Experience in preparing a variety of cuisines is an advantage.
