The Senior Costing & Purchasing Executive oversees and optimises procurement and costing operations to ensure cost efficiency, quality assurance, and timely delivery of materials and products. The incumbent develops supplier strategies, analyses cost structures, and drives process improvements to support the company's operational and financial goals. This role also provides guidance to junior team members and collaborates closely with key internal stakeholders to align purchasing decisions with business objectives.

Core Duties & Responsibilities



Procurement Strategy & Planning



Develop and execute procurement strategies to achieve cost efficiency, quality, and timely supply of goods. Analyse market trends, pricing, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities. Oversee and approve supplier selection, quotations, and contract terms in accordance with company policies. Coordinate with internal departments to forecast material requirements and plan purchasing schedules accordingly. Lead or support supplier negotiations to secure favourable pricing, delivery, and payment terms.

Costing & Analysis



Evaluate and maintain accurate product costing, including material, labour, and overhead components. Prepare cost comparison reports and propose pricing recommendations to management. Monitor and analyse price variances and implement corrective actions to meet budget targets. Support management in budget preparation and cost analysis for new projects or tenders.

Inventory & Supplier Management



Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels to support project timelines without overstocking. Manage ageing, slow-moving, and discontinued inventory to minimise holding costs. Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement improvement plans when necessary. Ensure compliance with procurement standards, documentation, and audit requirements.

Leadership & Collaboration



Provide guidance and support to junior purchasing staff on daily operations and supplier management. Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, project, and design teams to streamline procurement processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and accuracy.

Skills, Experience & Competencies Required



Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or related field. Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience in costing and procurement, preferably in the interior design or construction industry. Strong negotiation, analytical, and cost management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
