The Role Responsibilities
Risk Management

  • Manage risk exposures of Funds portfolio. Provide early warning and identify deteriorating credits. Manage exposure down as required.
  • Ensure risk identification, measurement, reporting, and modelling capabilities are objective, consistent, and compliant with applicable regulations
  • Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the SCO Funds Risk
  • Ensuring that the quality of Business Credit Applications (BCAs) meets Group standards, particularly with regards to the completeness and depth of risk analysis.
  • Approving breaches of Portfolio Guidelines / Underwriting Guidelines, to the extent permitted under Credit Policy / Portfolio Guidelines.
  • Ensuring timely submission and accuracy of credit portfolio data to the relevant stakeholder
  • Monitoring compliance with Credit Policy and Portfolio Guidelines / Underwriting Guidelines periodically and reviewing any divergence thereof with the SCO Funds Risk
  • Ensure EAR process is adhered to. Assist relationship managers in identification and managing up or out of accounts exhibiting signs of deterioration and assist Group Special Assets Management, where appropriate, in managing accounts to maximise recoveries and minimise losses.
  • Initiate stress tests as required by internal and external factors and review results and assess their implications
  • Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions, by challenging business to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy
  • Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of Credit Control and Reporting with regards to Funds, Asset Backed Securities
  • Ensure effective management of operational risks with respect to Funds Risk management functions and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations
  • Ensure appropriate judgement is applied in the discharge of risk authorities assigned to the jobholder
  • Maintain a good understanding of the requirements of key external stakeholders in respect of risk management and ensure these are well understood internally and reflected in internal procedures
  • Participate in key committees in the absence of the Global Head of Funds Risk in SCO Funds Risk Asia capacity.
  • Ensure first line process owners understand and accept their risk management responsibilities
  • Maintain an open and cooperative relationship in dealings with regulators in the absence of the SCO Funds Risk Asia.
Governance
  • Implement the overall Risk Management Framework and Global Underwriting Guidelines for Funds and oversee their effective application.
  • In the absence of the SCO Funds Risk Asia, attend the Risk Committee, Credit Issues Forum, and Underwriting Committee to provide input to the committees on arising risk issues and new policies and processes as required.
  • Maintain an open and cooperative relationship in dealings with regulators and auditors.
  • In the SCO Funds Risk Asia, absence, attend all risk management and controls committees, as applicable.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Market knowledge: 10+ years of experience at the highest level in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role.
  • Business strategy and model: sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awakened and sensitivity.
  • Risk management and control: demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk in geographically dispersed and highly varied product base.
  • Regulatory framework and requirement: awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates.
  • Non-technical skills: significant relationship management experience - with external stakeholder at senior levels.
  • Banking training:
    • Role specific training which are mandatory and developmental
    • Risk management framework
    • Core credit curriculum
    • Financial Institutions Credit Curriculum
    • Other training as deemed mandatory by the bank and updated on a periodic basis.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • C&I Credit Risk
  • Trading product knowledge: Derivatives and repo
  • Client due diligence preferable with hedge funds and private equity funds
  • Legal documentation knowledge: ISDA/CSA, GMRA
