What the role is:The Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX) is the first of its kind Science and Technology Agency in the world that brings together science and engineering capabilities across the Home Team Departments to transform the homeland security landscape and keep Singapore safe. Within HTX, various Centres of Expertise (CoE) drive specialised efforts. Among these, the HTX Forensics CoE is committed to advance forensics capabilities through research, development, and continuous innovation and provides scientific forensic analysis and intelligence gathering to the Home Team Departments. As a Senior Crime Scene Specialist, forward deployed to deployed to the Forensics Division (FD) of Singapore Police Force\'s Criminal Investigation Department, you will be part of a team of specialists to conduct crime scene investigations to process and recover critical evidence related to criminal cases or traffic incidents.What you will be working on:As a Senior Crime Scene Specialist, you will be required to: \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct thorough forensic processing and documentation of scenes of crime/traffic accident, ensuring adherence to both legal statutes and scientific protocols. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct thorough examination and recovery of physical evidence at crime scenes, meticulously documenting field activities and maintaining a strict chain of custody for all investigative findings. \xe2\x80\xa2 Document and preserve forensic evidence, meticulously ensuring its adequacy and integrity to support investigations and court proceedings. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strictly adhere to established protocols, standards, and regulations governing forensics procedures, with comprehensive training provided. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain readiness for shift duties and 24/7 stand-by availability, recognising the exigencies inherent in law enforcement work. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide crucial support to forensics operations and investigations, including attending court trials. \xe2\x80\xa2 Take charge of planning and deployment of resources, and responsible for ensuring that all actions taken by the team in the course of work comply with proper procedures that fulfil both legal and scientific requirements. \xe2\x80\xa2 Due to the nature of crime scene work, ability to handle unpleasant sights and smell to perform duties related to victim identification. \xe2\x80\xa2 Undertake any additional administrative duties or development projects as assigned, and monitoring of emerging new technologies/equipment/procedures related to forensics to enhance the operational readiness of the Division.What we are looking for:Candidates should possess: \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\'s degree in Forensic Science, Life Science, Chemistry, Biology and/or other related disciplines. \xe2\x80\xa2 Candidates with work experience in related fields, such as homeland security, law enforcement, and/or military, may be considered. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in photography, videography, digital animation, and/or related multi-media fields will be an advantage. \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in diverse environments. \xe2\x80\xa2 Eagerness to learn and collaborate as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. \xe2\x80\xa2 Willingness to work flexible shift hours in alignment with the demands of crime scenes work, and. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to perform well under pressure and at irregular hours. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work. \xe2\x80\xa2 A valid Class 3 driving license will be an advantage. \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be physically fit to handle demanding crime scene environments. \xe2\x80\xa2 Candidates with no prior experience in forensics are welcome to apply. \xe2\x80\xa2 Passion for forensic science and a genuine desire to contribute to the safety and security of Singapore. All new appointees will be provided with relevant training and appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
