As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines, models, and infrastructure to support business and agency needs. You will collaborate with IT teams on technology, infrastructure, and security alignment, while ensuring data quality, governance, and security standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate business data requirements into technical solutions.
Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
Monitor and optimize databases, ensuring performance, reliability, and uptime.
Develop reusable data models and secure access mechanisms for end users.
Implement data quality, validation, and governance processes.
Maintain metadata, data catalogues, and lineage documentation.
Research and implement modern tools, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Strong knowledge of system design, data modelling, data storage, and algorithms.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Databricks.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and shell scripting.
Experience in batch and real-time data pipelines with orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory).
Preferred:
Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps tools (Docker, Git, Terraform).
Experience with data security, governance, and compliance processes.
Exposure to government systems and/or climate & weather data domains.
