What the role is:The Strategic Planning and Policy Division (SPPD) in the Ministry of Law oversees the ministry\'s strategic planning process, transformation efforts, and the development and review of policies relating to community legal services. While officers are hired for specific roles within the division at the start, officers have the opportunity to work in different or multiple sections within the division, taking into consideration the officers\' competencies and development needs, as well as the needs of the division.What you will be working on:As the Senior Executive in the Policy Office supporting the work of community legal services, you will be developing and reviewing policies and legislation including: (i) The provision of public trustee services, to ensure that persons of limited means have access; (ii) The insolvency framework, to balance the interests of insolvent persons, creditors, and the wider society; (iii) The regulation of moneylending and pawnbroking, to ensure safe access to credit for the vulnerable; and (iv) The supervision of precious stones and metals dealers, to counter money laundering and terrorism financing. You will also need to assess and oversee the communication and operationalisation of such new policy recommendations. In carrying out your role, you will be working closely with officers from other divisions within MinLaw, and engaging government agencies, stakeholders, and industry players to conduct research and gather feedback/input.
