Job Purpose
The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy\'s Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES) is focused on a \xe2\x80\x9cFit for Purpose\xe2\x80\x9d Policy in Asia. Our aim is to create Southeast Asia\'s leading policy think tank to address key sustainability challenges such as water governance, climate and energy, biodiversity, and sustainable livelihoods. We aim to assist governments, non-governmental organizations, and businesses to achieve their environmental and sustainability goals. We will accomplish this mission through LKYSPP\'s analytic capacity of leading sustainability-focused faculty and staff to integrate research, teaching, and outreach for fostering purposeful deliberations, and innovative solutions, for ameliorating critical challenges.
We are seeking to hire an Outreach and Engagement Senior Executive/Executive as part of the growing team at the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES)
The position will be a 2-year contract, renewable subject to good performance.
The successful applicant will support IES\'s leadership in building Southeast Asia\'s leading environmental and sustainability policy think tank, to be housed within the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The role holder will assist in the identification and development of innovative and collaborative philanthropic and partnership opportunities with corporate donors, foundations, governments, and other partners. They will provide support and capacity building to develop new partnership models, retain and grow relationships with existing partners, actively track and analyse country and regional pipelines and portfolios, and ensure the use of well-coordinated and competitive proposal management processes. They will actively support growth by leading on key multi-country or strategic funding opportunities from the private sector and foundations.
The position will require strong skills in administrative and programmatic management, as well as stakeholder engagement and an exceptional degree of organization. The role will include managing internal organizational efforts within LKYSPP & NUS generally as well as external stakeholder engagement with Singaporean, ASEAN, and global government officials, non-governmental, business, and philanthropic organizations. The role also includes writing substantive policy briefs, proposals for funding, and conference participation. The role holder will report to the Director of IES.
Key Responsibilities:
\xe2\x97\x8f Proactively research, identify, and develop opportunities within new and existing donors, NGOs, and multi-stakeholders.
\xe2\x97\x8f Enhance partnership and ensure it strategically fits the needs and priorities of each partner.
\xe2\x97\x8f Prepare all necessary groundwork for multi-country or multi-regional proposal development and management, assemble proposal teams for multi-country opportunities, provide effective proposal management at the regional level, and undertake quality assurance of proposals to ensure high-quality competitive proposals in order to successfully secure business partners\' funds at scale.
\xe2\x97\x8f Administer grant management.
\xe2\x97\x8f Help produce high-quality, compelling, and accurate materials to engage donors, including concept notes, specific thematic work overviews, and full proposals.
\xe2\x97\x8f Effectively collaborate and coordinate with teams within IES and across LKYSPP and the University.
\xe2\x97\x8f Attend external meetings with potential business and philanthropic partners, as needed, supporting design workshops and leading key internal stakeholders through early conversations. Track all donor prospects and ensure follow-through is timely and appropriate.
\xe2\x97\x8f Support small fundraising and cultivation events.
\xe2\x97\x8f Support assuring coherence in the multitude of tasks that staff and faculty are undertaking.
\xe2\x97\x8f Understand and effectively report to the Director on thematic/program gaps, co-financing gaps, and operational sustainability gaps.
\xe2\x97\x8f Assist management of \xe2\x80\x9cto-do list\xe2\x80\x9d so that most urgent matters are addressed efficiently while ensuring medium and long-term objectives are met.
\xe2\x97\x8f Support meaningful engagement in our external training-building efforts, affiliated faculty, and partners.
Qualifications
\xe2\x97\x8f BA/MA in one of the social or policy sciences, communications, and business
\xe2\x97\x8f Knowledge of environmental and sustainability changes relevant to Singapore and ASEAN
\xe2\x97\x8f Familiarity with the local (Singapore) and international ecosystem of funding (including grant and philanthropic funding) opportunities.
\xe2\x97\x8f Strong ability to help administer grant proposals for competitive and non-competitive grant types.
\xe2\x97\x8f Strong interpersonal and persuasive communication ability
\xe2\x97\x8f Excellent writing skills in crafting letters, two-page overviews, annual reports, and action plans
\xe2\x97\x8f Demonstration of a high level of creativity, sense of initiative, and enthusiasm in seeing assigned tasks to completion
\xe2\x97\x8f Support in the institute\'s conference/events management
\xe2\x97\x8f Methodical and organized, with an eye for detail.
\xe2\x97\x8f A good team player
\xe2\x97\x8f Experience working with stakeholders and grant writing are desirable.
