How we support the Whole You:
Our benefits are a good reason to come to JLL.
We are committed to hiring the best, most talented people in our industry, and then empowering them with the resources and support to enhance their health, financial and personal well-being. Our underlying benefits philosophy is this: be fair to our people and provide opportunities for those who take advantage of our programs and resources to increase their personal and financial security.
About the Role
As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer in the JLLT Sustainability Engineering Group, you will be building the software that enables our clients to become more sustainable, resilient, and responsible enterprises. You'll play a major part in idea generation, designing, prototyping, planning, and executing new software components for our decarbonization suite of tools. We're a group of collaborators and in this role, you will develop products and features that will be leveraged by both internal and external customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to have real ownership of projects and to be able to see your work come to life at a global scale.
On May 4, 2021, JLL announced our aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040 across all areas of its operations, including the client sites we manage, globally. As one of the various strategies to achieve this, our team is currently growing and you will get a chance to work on a sustainability management system that helps our clients (as well as ourselves), to bring our operational carbon footprint and greenhouse gases down. Join us today, and together we will make this a reality.
Our current system stack is in Angular 2+ and our backend includes .Net Framework services running in Azure. We are in the midst of re-platforming to Java + React.
Who You Are
You have 6+ years of experience building large-scale software applications in Java, Spring Boot, Javascript, and ReactJS
You have some experience working with .Net/.Net Core C# and Angular 2+ systems
You have worked with Database design and understand SQL
You have experience with designing and implementing microservices
You have knowledge and experience in building cloud-based systems (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
You are proficient in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment
You are self-motivated and self-managing, with excellent organizational skills.
You're confident in taking ownership of projects from start to finish and enjoy the process of turning nebulous ideas into reality
You proactively mitigate issues through test-driven development, continuous deployment, and thoughtful monitoring and alerting
You are comfortable working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process
You have an inclination towards communication, inclusion, and visibility
You have effective communication skills and are able to regularly achieve consensus with peers
You thrive in a fully remote and globally-distributed organization
You add positive energy in every meeting, making your coworkers feel included in every interaction
What You'll Do
Work across the full stack, advocating for improvements to product quality, security, and performance that have particular impact across your team and others
Provide mentorship for Engineers on your team to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers to their autonomy
Exert significant influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of your team
Shepherd the definition and improvement of our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code reviews
Drive innovation on the team with a willingness to experiment and to boldly confront problems of immense complexity and scope
Actively seek out difficult impediments to our efficiency as a team ("technical debt"), propose and implement solutions that will enable the entire team to iterate faster
