Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group's reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Legal Counsel.

Principal Responsibilities

• The role-holder will be part of the legal team that provides legal advice and support to the Global Markets (GM) business and the Securities Services (SSv) business in Singapore
• Provide legal support in respect of GM and SSv products and initiatives (including digital innovation, and development of digital platforms, services and products)
• Develop and maintain templates and liaising with external counsel when necessary.
• Provide legal support to and collaborate with other functions and teams (such as Regulatory Compliance, Risk and Global Legal Services) that support the GM business and the SSv business
• Assist and support the line managers and the Singapore Legal Function in providing advice, guidance, direction and support and in managing legal risks for such business lines or projects that the line managers may assign the role holder from time to time
• Ensure that the Group Legal Function's relevant policies and procedures are adhered to and ensure that the Group's exposures to legal risk in the GM business and the SSv business are effectively managed.
• Participate in and provide legal support for various local and regional projects and initiatives
• Perform Legal function's role as the second line of defense in the Group's risk management framework and partnering the GM business and the SSv business in Singapore in addressing non-legal issues and risks (such as reputational risk and conduct risk)

For this role profile:

GM Business Covers:

• OTC derivatives transactions and other GM products and initiative
• Assisting with GM documentation (such as drafting and reviewing ISDA Master Agreements, trade confirmations and product term sheets)

SSv Business Covers:

• Direct Custody and Clearing
• Global Custody
• Investor Services
• Real Estate Investment Trusts
• Trustee and Fiduciary Services
• Fund Services

Requirements

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of relevant post qualification experience with a reputable local or international law firm
• Confident practitioner
• Up-to-date knowledge of developments in own industry sector
• Able to handle a diverse range of issues
• Self-starter, independent with good organizational skills
• Communication and inter-personal skills
• Lateral thinking/problem solving
• Stamina and ability to work under pressure
• Experience with FinTech, digital platforms, services and products advantageous
