Twitter Legal is adding a lawyer to our Safety, Content, & Law Enforcement (SCALE) team in JAPAC. Our SCALE team in JAPAC is on the front lines of safety, speech, and surveillance issues that affect the internet. Twitter's real-time environment and international growth present unique challenges in these areas and we are looking for a strategic, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic lawyer to join our current lawyer in Singapore. We provide legal advice to teams involved in safety and law enforcement issues around the company, with Trust & Safety as our main client. We provide input and guidance around efforts to combat online abuse and to enforce Twitter's Rules and Terms of Service. We advise the company on policies and procedures for responding to requests for user data and to remove content, related transparency efforts such as our bi-annual Twitter Transparency Report and user notice, and legal strategies for responding to specific requests. We also advise the company on its response to various laws including the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act in Singapore, and the Online Safety legislation and CLOUD Act legislation pending in Australia. SCALE in JAPAC also advises Trust & Safety and Legal Policy teams in-region regarding highly-specialized laws in Japan and South Korea regarding child exploitation, non-consensual sharing of intimate content and paid dating services. What You'll Do: As a SCALE legal counsel in APAC, you will play a key role in identifying legal risks associated with requests for user data, requests for content removal, efforts to curb online abuse and enforce the Twitter Rules, and our ability to comply with legal demands and legal requirements in APAC. You will work collaboratively with your legal colleagues, Trust & Safety, communications, public policy, product and other teams across the company to share guidance and find creative solutions. You will also work with outside counsel in-region when you need legal advice. Qualifications You are qualified to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the JAPAC region. You have at least 5+ years of legal experience. You have professional experience dealing with JAPAC laws related to government surveillance and content moderation. You have professional experience analyzing, responding, and facilitating a coordinated response to comply to new government regulations Desired skills include knowledge of international law, particularly human rights law and human rights issues.
