Site Selection & Acquisitions The APAC Business Development/Site Selection & Acquisitions team is responsible for delivering quality sites for Vantage\xe2\x80\x99s data center development. The team sources, evaluates, pre-qualifies and completes initial due diligence leading to site acquisitions that support Vantage\xe2\x80\x99s data center business across APAC. The team collaborates with the New Site Development, Design & Engineering, Sales, Operations, Construction, Legal, Finance and the Senior Leadership Teams . Position Overview The Senior Manager, Energy Infrastructure Site Selection will be responsible for the identification and qualification of energy availability and initial scouting of energy infrastructure that aligns with Vantage\xe2\x80\x99s strategic goals and site selection expansion plans for each identified market. This position will identify the availability of power infrastructure that will inform and drive location strategies for real estate site selection and develop Utility Provider and third-party consultant relationships. Key elements of the role will include identifying, mapping and plotting the location, type and availability of energy infrastructure for regions, markets, or specific sites identify utility partnership opportunities that directs the Business Development site selection teams targeted locations. Identifying the immediate and future availability of energy infrastructure for Vantage to grow in APAC will underpin all aspects of the role. After the energy infrastructure has been fully qualified and requisite site locations are under control by Vantage, the position holder will support the engagement with utility providers and provide thought leadership on all power related matters as the New Site Development team complete the necessary technical due diligence to deliver power to the site(s) and enter into final negotiations for the power agreements. Constant communication with New Site Development, Design/Engineering, Construction, Legal and Finance plus other stakeholders will be required to ensure Vantage\xe2\x80\x99s strategic milestones for land and power acquisition (banking) goals are achieved, including enhancing Vantage\xe2\x80\x99s product and service offering wherever possible. Essential Job Functions
  • Direct investigation to overlay energy options and availabilities with suitable sites for data center infrastructure and development.
  • Complete preliminary research and evaluation of energy infrastructure, power availabilities and sources of energy in targeted areas. This includes the preliminary screenings of all sites under consideration, assuring all required documentation and analysis are undertaken.
  • Act as single of point of contact for the Site Selection & Acquisitions, and New Site Development teams with utility providers to understand timing, costs and opportunities for physical energy infrastructure supporting data center developments.
  • Understand, analyse, and incorporate current energy legislation and policies into energy infrastructure sourcing strategies.
  • Identify new energy trends or clean energy sources that will impact site selection strategies.
  • Develop and manage energy and power supply chain partnerships with Utilities, municipalities, consultants and partners.
  • Provide thought leadership and input on projects and assignments, including budget, schedule and contract terms in coordination with internal and external project stakeholders
Duties
  • Align availability of power opportunities with other key technical site selection criteria such as metro and backbone fiber networks, subsea cables, and related infrastructure to incorporate into Site Selection strategies that will drive the execution of site selection and acquisition activities.
  • Understand business strategies to align power opportunities and with development milestones to drive success.
  • Review and evaluate all new sites to comply with energy requirements and to identify and verify energy opportunities for expansion.
  • Participate in initial site assessment reviews.
  • Complete site pre-qualification and initial due diligence activities related to energy sourcing and provisioning.
  • Report status of all projects in pre-qualification and pre-development status (risks, schedule, quality, and budget) to management.
  • At the appropriate time, handoff a specific site/ project to the Development and/ or operations teams.
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
  • Technical competency with energy infrastructure, understanding of energy systems and use.
  • Degree in Technology, Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering Resourcing, or Master\xe2\x80\x99s in Business Administration strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with energy infrastructure management and delivery.
  • Familiarity with all components of energy infrastructures including generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
  • ArcGIS mapping skills
  • Project management experience, with the ability to carry out initial energy analyses and energy due diligence.
  • Site selection experience preferred.
  • Strong IT skills: ability to use multiple communication tools and packages essential
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization and with other stakeholders and third parties such as suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead external teams with excellent relationship building skills, and ability to work in a collaborative manner.
  • Provide a high-level of commitment to customer service with co-workers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-directed; able to work in a variety of circumstances, e.g.: remotely, while travelling, across multiple time zones, cross functionally, by project, etc.
  • This position requires an organized individual with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and to prioritize work effort, all with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel up to 50%. National and international travel will be required on a regular basis.
  • Business level English, a second language (Japanese, Korea, Mandarin) is desirable but not essential.
