The Role Responsibilities

  • Standard Chartered (\xe2\x80\x9cThe Bank\xe2\x80\x9d) is a leading international bank operating in some of the most dynamic markets in the world, in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
  • This is a role within Group Financial Planning & Analytics team based in Singapore. The team provides insight and analysis on the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s performance and the market environment to drive strategic decision making and support the communication of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s performance to external stakeholders.
  • The role provides an opportunity to interact directly with a range of senior management within Standard Chartered, develop a strong understanding of the Bank and its markets and to directly influence how the Bank is perceived by key external stakeholders such as investors and ratings agencies.
  • The role suits an individual able to conceptualise, problem solve and think laterally to manage dynamic and unique issues. The individual should be fluent in reading bank financial statements and have good understanding of banking products, accounting methods and external disclosures. Creativity and the ability to communicate clearly are essential skills for the role.
  • The ideal candidate would have experience in FP&A, business finance, corporate strategy or investor relations with specific financial institutions experience. Prior experience in balance sheet management, capital and liquidity considered favorably.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
A leading role in the preparation, coordination and delivery of business performance analysis and insight to support multiple Group FP&A deliverables to Group Board and Management Team. The role is the key point of contact within Group FP&A with respect to Balance Sheet and RWA for business finance and Treasury teams.
  • Leading role in coordinating and reviewing Group balance sheet and RWA forecasts with business stakeholders to support to Group\xe2\x80\x99s capital planning and balance sheet management activity.
  • Collaborate closely with Treasury Capital and Liquidity teams in support balance sheet and RWA planning and forecasting with insight into business performance drivers including risks and opportunities to budget. Support Board and MT updates on Planning as appropriate.
  • Drive the balance sheet and RWA workstreams for the Group\xe2\x80\x99s annual corporate plan as well as lead the transition to enhanced F and Basel 4 planning & delivery of balance sheet and RWA planning outcomes.
  • Deliver analyses to support regular Board reports, including the Corporate Plan, Group Management Team updates and Group Management Business Review (\xe2\x80\x9cMBR\xe2\x80\x9d).
  • Lead performance analyses to deliver pillar 3 reporting for half and full year results and interim management statements.
  • Work closely with London and Chennai based FP&A teams to coordinate deliverables, ad hoc requests and communication with business finance teams, and process owners in Management Reporting and Planning to ensure analysis is timely, accurate and consistent across FP&A outputs.
  • Provide Balance Sheet and RWA expertise on regulatory reporting and risk appetite exercises and support ad-hoc requests for analytics on Balance Sheet and RWA performance, including regulatory and internal optimisation projects.
  • This role requires strong understanding of current financial and business performance drivers across all businesses and regions of the Group through regular engagement with business finance teams.
  • Form strong relationships with internal stakeholders in business, finance and global functions. These typically include business/regional CFOs, FP&A teams, Business Finance, Treasury, Risk, Strategy and Investor Relations.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years of strong experience in credit risk, balance sheet management or capital and understanding of business performance drivers
  • Strong academic record at bachelor or master\xe2\x80\x99s degree level in business, economics, finance, financial engineering or related field from a well-recognized institution
  • Excellent communication, power point and excel skills
  • Working knowledge of Moody\xe2\x80\x99s Risk Authority (RAy), OBIEE (PMI/RMI/MRC), Hyperion
  • Proven strategic and analytical skills with a strong appetite for finding facts and offering solutions
  • CFA or FRM or accounting qualification will be considered positively
Role Specific Competencies
  • Strong experience in credit risk, balance sheet management or capital and understanding of business performance drivers
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills in nurturing relationships across a complex network of stakeholders and experience in managing offshore teams & mentoring individuals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical capability & ability to work with data
