15+ years of relevant experience in telecommunications and network services industry, especially in the field of fiber technologies, and data centers across APAC.

  • 10+ years managing a team of metro fiber technologists, leading complex negotiations of commercial contracts, developing regional strategies, program/product management experience in an infrastructure environment,
  • Planning, design and, construction of new telecoms fibre networks in multiple countries across APAC \xe2\x80\x93 at the minimum Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
  • Experience with understanding public policies and regulatory framework of telecommunication services in multiple countries across APAC
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations while prioritizing competing demands to deliver on time for our customers.

The AWS Metro Fiber Network Planning and Acquisition (MFNPA) team manages the expansion and investment strategy for AWS network infrastructure. The team is responsible for developing regional location strategy, builds and procures low latency, high throughput, and highly redundant network, manages the growth and maintenance of vendor partnerships, and commercial and legal negotiations.

As a Senior Manager \xe2\x80\x93 APAC Regional Lead of Metro Fiber Network Planning and Acquisition, you will help shape the future of AWS network infrastructure, while delivering operational excellence to our stakeholders, managing a portfolio that spans across Asia Pacific (APAC). This is a senior Infrastructure role within the region, and highly skilled in the development and acquisition of network services that drives Amazon\xe2\x80\x99s internal infrastructure as well as connecting Amazon to the outside world. The individual will be well versed with commercial, legal, technical and vendor strategies to achieve efficiency and scalability. The individual will drive cross functional collaborations with multiple disciplines within Amazon, including other networking teams (IP Interconnect, Backbone, Sub-sea, Optical, Engineering), data center supply solutions, finance, legal, technical project managers, DC operations teams, and AWS services product teams \xe2\x80\x93 to influence and align all stakeholders and partners, to achieve consistency in processes and standards. It is vital that the individual understands the concepts of AWS networking, legal, and data center technologies, and are able to clearly articulate complex technical transactions to executive leadership across multiple organizations (tech and non-tech). The individual will in turn provide advisory support to the wider network organization and leads for each country/region to ensure they are delivering to the same consistent standards.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the APAC Network Development team, helping to drive overall Network Infrastructure strategy. You are an expert in your domain, and have deep technical understanding of respective space in order to deconstruct problems, evaluate interactions between disciplines/sub-systems, and define quantitative measures for performance across multiple disciplines. You are considered an expert in your relevant industry/market segment (e.g. telecom infrastructure) and can lead technical negotiations, commercial agreements and business development for supporting technical infrastructure delivery across multiple geographies.

  • You amplify your impact by educating the wider AWS Infrastructure community on business development best practices. You participate, sharing knowledge and collaborating with other Infrastructure Technical Business Developers, specifically attending and/or presenting at internal conferences and AWS Infrastructure community events. You help managers guide the career growth of their team members by mentoring, performing promotion assessments, and participating in talent reviews.
  • An exceptional candidate will have a good understanding of the telecommunication and network services ecosystem in APAC - including international cable systems in/out of country, carrier hotels, IP Peering/Transit, internet exchange, metro fiber technologies, and also be comfortable discussing data center technologies (interpret electrical and mechanical SLDs, redundancy designs, cooling methodologies).
