The Development Office is the University-wide office responsible for helping the University to secure philanthropic contributions for the University. We are seeking a major gift officer who will be a strategic collaborator in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift donors, which include high net worth individuals, corporations and foundations. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the ideal candidate will manage a portfolio of potential and current major gift level donors to the university. He/she will be responsible for facilitating all phases of the gift cycle, including initiating contact, cultivating and moving potential donors to solicitation and to securing gifts. The ideal candidate is a skilled relationship builder, results-oriented and possesses excellent communication skills. He/she will support the Deputy Director in securing significant philanthropic support, and work collaboratively with NUS leadership, faculty, colleagues and volunteers to cultivate donors for university priorities.

The responsibilities of this role are:

  • Engage and cultivate prospective donors for major gifts for the university.
  • Conceptualise short- and long-term strategies to advance meaningful gift discussions between prospective donors and University\'s senior leadership and faculty members.
  • Develop and write compelling proposals and appeals.
  • Meet or exceed established fundraising goals and metrics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain a coordinated approach in support of university-wide fundraising goals and donor stewardship.
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • Has proven successful experience in complex selling to individuals and/or organisations.
  • Ability to manage a mixed portfolio of individual and corporate donors and foundations.
  • Collaborative, energetic and self-motivated with strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrate strong active listening skills with superior verbal and written communications skills.
  • A high degree of customer service orientation.
  • An ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with respect to prospects and donors\' information
  • Experience in higher education or in philanthropy will be a plus.
  • A recognized university degree; candidates who possess a diploma with relevant experience will also be considered.
