Job Description

To develop a new business portfolio, including production. To identify and act upon new business opportunities which promote the profitable development of the business. To manage and service client and market relationships. To facilitate the prompt placement of (re)insurance contracts in accordance with the client's requirements and needs, in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements acting in the best interest of the client at all times. To provide a pro-active advocacy service to clients covering all aspects of their (re)insurance arrangements; to advise, arrange and secure the appropriate cover at a competitive premium and actively chase information. To manage, lead and guide the Team in the risk placing, client servicing, claims handling, and associated functions in order to facilitate the department operations. Understand the workings of the company and each of its functions, as well as the market that the business operates in, and to foster internal collaboration across the various Ed product lines and across offices. To continue to develop skills and knowledge to provide excellent client service. To ensure compliance with regulations and adherence to the highest standard of best practices and ethics.Main Responsibilities: To develop new business portfolios, strategic production, and development plans for the Company, including the identification of new business opportunities and the planning and development of new initiatives. To lead and manage the (re)insurance intermediation as part of the team including production, risk placing, client servicing, premium receipts, claims handling, and associated functions. To ensure clear and accurate documents and wordings for clients which provide the best possible cover in the market and adhere to all regulatory requirements. To ensure the use of an appropriate class of business knowledge to produce contract documents and documents suited to the client's needs. To ensure and recommend amendments to policies/contract documents produced by the team prior to agreement by Underwriters. To ensure final contract documents against slip or proposal details to ensure the appropriateness of the proposed standard policy. Ability to create original and complex contract documents and maintain a database of contract documents and policy information. Provide guidance and advice on contract documents within specified classes of business. Resolve Underwriter's queries in a timely manner. Manage and monitor team members' daily work assignments as well as their development. Learn the use of TradEd, help drive and encourage adoption of it throughout Ed, and to ensure that Tracking is completed promptly to reflect the status of any risk. To ensure sound business practices and an adequate and pro-active risk control framework within the team and work within the authority. To exercise judgment when reviewing proposals, either new or renewals. Maintain up-to-date and orderly files, and ensure documents are saved and files are passed on to the others in accordance with Company Rules and Procedures. Work closely with the relevant department in resolving accounting and technical queries. Work on management reporting as may be required. Continuously improving of skills and knowledge base. Evaluate workflow system and policy status and report on a regular basis. Facilitate KYC compliance checks as relevant. Calling on prospects and clients for new business opportunities. Maintain proper meeting and call records. Manage and undertake assigned work to time scales as directed.Client Service: Understand the (re)insurance cover of each client and provide pro-active service to expedite the production of policies, liaising between all parties and actively chasing information. Deal with all client queries in a timely and professional manner. Escalate any potential problems to the Division Head / Directors at the earliest opportunity.Representing Ed: Champion the Ed name and core values. Represent Ed with clients, agents, suppliers, and other organisations.Compliance: Comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and Ed & Group compliance requirements, E&O compliance procedures, and quality initiatives. Escalation of any potential E&O's to Division Head / Directors at the earliest opportunity. Ensure completion of all mandatory Company training and to a deadline.Knowledge Required: Detailed understanding and knowledge of general (re)insurance and relevant legal principles. Detailed understanding of the Company's internal procedures and practices. Certification in General Insurance (CGI) or any equivalent professional qualification as required.Essentials: Bachelor's Degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Ability to prioritize and organize own workload. Ability to work under pressure without supervision. Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills. Collaborative team working approach. Ability to work with employees at all organisational levels. Ability to develop and sustain relationships with both internal and external parties. Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Accurate and attentive to detail. Excellent written and verbal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) & Outlook.
