DESIGNATION : Senior Manager (Strategic Sourcing)

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Strategic Sourcing builds the vision and distinctive capabilities of sourcing to help unlock upstream values that supports Own Brands & Food Solutions (OBFS) purpose to moderate the cost of living for Singapore by supplying good quality products at lower costs.
Reporting to Director (Integrated Planning & Operation), the individual shall be accountable for setting strategic direction for product sourcing & supplier management; while driving product cost leadership in close collaboration internally with category leaders across all business segments within OBFS as well as externally with adjacent business units
Strategic Sourcing Capability Development

  • Work closely with senior management to establish strategic sourcing business plan that includes tender & negotiation structure, commodity procurement strategy and outsourcing vs in-house operating framework
  • Drive supplier-based strategy to leverage overall spend while incorporating risk mitigation along the supply chain that includes currency risks, supplier risks, regulatory risk, etc.
  • Identify business development opportunities through strategic partnership and/or alliance to unlock cost and deliver incremental value
  • Enable OBFS strategic imperatives to driving upstream controls and vertical integration in strategic categories to build stronger greater commercial and supply resilience for the group
Supplier Management
  • Develop supplier stratification and prioritization model
  • Identify and develop strategic and core suppliers operating model to create a sustainable partnership anchored on cost, service and quality foundation while collaborating on product and commercial innovations
  • Implement supplier performance management program to drive continuous operation improvements and cost leadership
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
  • Create and implement best practice purchasing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance
Innovations and Organization Management
  • Provide thought leadership for supplier diversity and sustainability and translate into operating imperatives, consistent with group objectives on enterprise risk management and environment protection
  • Lead supplier enabled innovation programs and constantly reinvent our approach to launching new products, packaging and claims to diverse customers and cultures across different markets and channels
  • Support sourcing related complexity reduction initiatives by controlling cost of complexity (number of suppliers, SKUs and variants, ingredients, packaging)
  • Prepare annual sourcing budget and related Capital Expenditure proposals
  • Coach, mentor and develop sourcing talents to nurture a high performing sourcing talent pool that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions sustainably into the future

QUALIFICATIONS
  • More than 10 years of experience in global sourcing and procurement, ideally from the food or FMCG industry
  • Minimum of 5 years in commercial and contract negotiation. Solid negotiator that produces extended value for all parties
  • Proven ability to work cross culturally and across the global footprint
  • Comfortable of working with numbers and ability to evaluate financial statements of vendors under consideration
  • Track record in leading transformation projects within a matrixed environment
  • Good understanding of procurement and enterprise applications like ERP
  • Technical expertise – Able to manage complexity, be prepared to get involved with technical issues at a detailed level. Have strong problem solving & decision-making skills and shows ability to drive issues to quick resolutions.
  • Collaborative leadership - Have very strong interpersonal and partnering skills; yet ability to command authority and influence issue resolution; or build consensus in achieving desired results and objectives.
  • Business acumen – Good appreciation of business & financial principles and ability to translate commercial and customer strategies into supply chain operating goals
  • Cross-business organization - Know how to manoeuvre in a cross-business organization, i.e., how to optimize resources and knowledge, partnering with cross-functional peers and other business groups to deliver results
  • Analytic skills and problem Solving – Meticulous and strong with numbers. Ability to convert insights from data analysis into diagnostic and solution
  • Communication skills – Effective verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills. Can communicate with people from multiple business units at multiple levels, and can provide strategic/tactical guidance in a collaborative, consultative, and positive manners
