We are looking for a Senior Manager \xe2\x80\x93 Supply Chain and Sales & Operations Planning to manage our supply chain and to continue the maturity of the sales & operations planning (S&OP) process to deliver superior value across the value chain of bauxite & alumina business (B&A).
This role is a great opportunity for a strong techno-commercial practitioner who thrives in driving commercial value through operational and supply chain excellence.
Based in Singapore and reporting to the General Manager, Bauxite & Alumina \xe2\x80\x93 Commercial, you will be responsible for:

• Management of the bauxite and alumina supply chains, optimizing the schedule for internal and customer demand via a risk adjusted approach to volume, freight rates and demurrage.
• Coordination of key business plans through S&OP processes to ensure alignment and best value outcome for the B&A business \xe2\x80\x93 production plans, sales plans and shipping schedules.
• Support and further develop the supply chain digital tools to drive innovation and automation into the supply chain management process.
• Balancing internal and external product demands, while ensuring that the group maximizes the short to long term profitability through a well-integrated S&OP process.
• Contributing to the volume, quality, price and margin targets for short term (Max 12 months) set for the overall B&A business.
• Contributing to a detailed understanding on implications of customer, product, volume, location and pricing relationships between customers in the same region and between countries.
• Leading or contributing to the Sales and Marketing improvement projects and track visibility of the value pipeline initiatives.
• Liaison with and contribution to the S&OP Area of Expertise to develop and implement S&OP best practice across Rio Tinto.
• Leadership of a team of highly capable supply chain professionals.

About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• University degree, preferably in engineering or business/supply chain.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management experience across the mining and metals / bulk commodities.
• Strong know-how in optimizing raw material usages through supply chain excellence.
• Solid understanding of the commercial and technical elements of ocean freight markets and operations.
• Demonstrated abilities to manage conflicting demands from internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to simplify complexity and present comprehensible and workable proposals to senior managements.
• Effective influencing skills when engaging a wide range of target audience, ranging from GM commercial to production managers in refineries and smelters.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and organize a number of concurrent demands under tight time pressure.
• Strong leadership skills \xe2\x80\x93 ability to lead, contribute and influence others across the B&A business.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience with Bauxite and Alumina
• 3+ years operational / manufacturing experience in a mine / refinery or industrial plant.
• Solid understanding of the commercial, operational and technical elements of ocean freight markets and operations.

Where you will be working
Bauxite and Alumina (B&A) is accountable for Rio Tinto\xe2\x80\x99s worldwide activities related to bauxite mining and refining into smelter-grade alumina. The business unit employs approximately 6,000 people (incl. JVs, excl. contractors) in ten countries and owns and/or operates five bauxite mines and four smelter-grade alumina plants. B&A is a recognized as an industry leader and has an extensive project pipeline which includes the expansion of operations in Australia and potential future development in many other countries.


Within Rio Tinto Commercial, B&A Commercial is a key part of Aluminium Commercial with accountability for sales of 11 million mt of alumina sales per annum (5 million mt are external sales) and 6 million mt alumina purchases, and 60 million mt bauxite sales. In addition the B&A Commercial team is accountable for the sales of Aluminium Hydrate, Aluminium Flouride and by-products from assets in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
