Description
Objectives of the Position:

  • Lead projects and initiatives with high external and internal exposure including the sustainability field aiming to cover finance aspects within large cross-functional projects.
  • Lead the taxonomy activities in Asia Pacific by developing and implementing the concept and strategy for Sustainable finance aspects such as non-financial reporting KPIS for Asia Pacific in combination with Corporate Units and Operating Divisions or Regional Business Units.
  • Lead the implementation of BASF’s Product Carbon Footprint calculation tool (SCOTT) in Asia Pacific with customers, partners and regulatory bodies and support to promote the CO2 abatement methodology for investments within the region.
  • Lead the performance management for SCALE countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, and Pakistan).
  • The position is also to ensure governance and compliance with legal requirements and company guidelines in the region

Responsibilities:
  • Track and with good understanding of Taxonomy in Asia Pacific to provide advice to the organization on corporate and regional level.
  • To translate taxonomy knowledge into tangible strategic imperatives and initiatives.
  • Work with key stakeholders / players to identify how to steer BASF business in Asia Pacific considering country specifics for Taxonomy.
  • Define and implement non-financial KPIs in collaboration with central units and regional business units.
  • Principal for the implementation and promotion of carbon management tools from Finance and Controlling perspective mainly SCOTT and the CO2 abatement methodology for investments.
  • Actively shape the agenda for sustainable finance i.e.: CO2 Credits and Certificates
  • Drive and promote financial modeling for sustainability projects.
  • Drive the performance management, planning and controlling of SCALE countries.

Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree of Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or Accounting
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in sustainable finance including Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) KPIs.
  • Knowledge on Europe (EU) taxonomy is a strong plus.
  • Working experience with ESG metrics, data providers and ESG data analytics
  • Good knowledge of sustainability and finance reporting metrics and schemes including Greenhouse gas (GHG) carbon accounting.
  • Good knowledge of financial modeling for sustainability projects.
  • Deep experience and understanding of finance and business management in domains across risk management, operations, structuring or asset management
  • Working knowledge of sustainable finance, carbon management strategies and taxonomy, together with practical experience in navigating sustainable finance solutions (Circular economy, CO2 Credits, Certificates as examples)
  • Strong passion for sustainability and climate risk through demonstrated continuous learning and experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills
  • Highly organized with demonstrated project management experience
  • High awareness of industry frameworks with deep knowledge in one or more domain i.e. decarbonization solutions, ESG regulations, ESG data, climate risk stress testing, sustainable finance product strategies and decarbonization strategies
