The Role Responsibilities
The main function of this role will be to independently assess the valuation of all assets and liabilities within the respective credit businesses. Additional responsibilities would be the calculation and assessment of market and model reserves in light of known model deficiencies.
Strategy

  • Oversee the controls, reporting, and escalation processes for Valuation Methodology Credit.
  • Establish best practice valuation techniques & fair value levelling.
Processes
  • Responsible for the independent valuation at month-end and intra-month of all assets and liabilities using multiple external vendor services pricing.
  • Provide timely information to the relevant product controller on the impacts to their books.
  • Perform calculations and analysis of reserves.
  • Analyse model deficiencies.
  • Produce monthly packs which clearly states the over or undervaluation as compared to Front Office, and the commentary for the Independent Price Verification of fair value positions.
  • Review and implement independent pricing methodologies.
  • Ensure all trades are marked to fair value.
  • Identify pricing issues for complex derivative trades.
  • Ensure a robust and optimised Prudential Valuation Framework.
People & Talent
  • Supervise, mentor and provide leadership to the existing team.
Governance
  • Engage with key stakeholders actively and act as the main Valuation Methodology Credit representative on various governance committees and product valuation forums.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Educated to degree level; preferably with a Finance / Business OR Masters degree in a quantitative subject.
  • 12+ years of related global markets and credit trading experience.
  • Strong IT skills. In particular Excel, VBA, SQL and functional programming.
