Senior Principal Investigator (Adolescent Psychology)

The Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS) is part of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore\'s lead public sector R&D agency. Through open innovation, we collaborate with our partners in both the public and private sectors to benefit society through evidence-based approaches in advancing human potential and improving long-term health.

To enable this, we have a dynamic network and core of biologists, clinicians, psychologists and other researchers across brain and metabolic health fields. At this time, we are looking to hire Principal Investigators at the mid-career/senior level to join our growing and dynamic RI to develop and lead competitive, collaborative research groups

The successful candidate will form part of an international multi-disciplinary research institute and help contribute to its strategic growth. It is expected that group leaders will produce impactful research through publications, translational outcomes and partnerships with economic and social benefits.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Leads ideation and development of a research team in the field of Adolescent Health, Wellness, Psychology or Behaviour
  • Establishes network and collaborations aligned with the wider strategy of SICS and A*STAR
  • Identifies and develops novel and competitive grant and project proposals, with demonstrated experience in leading research grant funding
  • Where relevant, oversees the planning and progress of studies and projects under her/his responsibility
  • Designs and prepares detailed study-specific work plans and support documentation for protocols and assays; discusses with management and obtains approval as appropriate
  • Ensures that all study-related data is appropriately maintained and archived through partnership with other teams within the institute
  • Clearly and periodically communicate the progress of the partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participates in the preparation of presentations and publications in collaboration with external parties when required
  • Leads a team, providing scientific and career mentorship to researchers and staff
  • Undertakes responsibility for scientific creativity, societal relevance, and beneficence to the public good
Minimum Requirements

  • PhD/MD or equivalent in Psychology, Psychiatry or other Behavioural Health fields, with a minimum of 8 ? 10 years postgraduate experience, including group leadership
  • Highly motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to uphold ethical research practices in view of human-centered research.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong research ideas to secure grant and funding
  • Good publication record demonstrating impact, written communication and integrative analyses, including a portfolio of work demonstrating lead authorship
  • Substantial experience working independently and within a team as a scientific collaborator. Able to liaise well with staff and collaborators at all levels
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills including a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in research project management, including budget management, supporting other members of staff and timely milestones delivery
