What can you expect?

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for global management and support of the Marine, Protective, and Yacht (MPY) Services offer. The role involves overseeing various services such as Hullcare, Intersure, Interplan, Interskill, and Equipment Rental, while also exploring opportunities to monetize new innovations related to robotics and aerones. The incumbent collaborates closely with Marketing and Tender teams to ensure the services are delivered globally and aligned with the MPY segment plans. Additionally, the Senior Product Manager develops growth plans for the Services range offer with input from Marketing and Tender teams and supports the Asia region on wider products topics in a dynamic commercial environment.

This position can be based in Singapore or China.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and support the marketing of MPY Services products globally and oversee the assigned product and services portfolio.
  • Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) and Market Rate of Change Managing Range Complexity (MRC) while monitoring and addressing product performance challenges to achieve segment targets.
  • Collaborate with other senior product managers, Marketing, and Tender functions to implement the portfolio across different functions.
  • Act as a key contact for Product Management in the assigned region, collaborating with regional peers and commercial teams through the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process.
We will count on you to:
  • Oversee critical product categories across MPY Business Unit (BU), ensuring profitability aligns with BU strategy and engaging key customers in product and service discussions.
  • Manage the product and service portfolio related to the category, considering global strategy and market trends, and working with Product Management Director to prioritize business goals.
  • Collaborate with segment teams to devise product and service solutions related to new concepts and business models.
  • Lead Integrated Business Planning on key projects and work with functions like Integrated Supply Chain, Procurement, and RD&I to prioritize and align activities.Act as Project Manager for top product development projects, coordinating business cases and using the stage gate process for effective planning and communication.
  • Represent the company at industry events and technical committees to promote products and drive technology leadership.
  • Benchmark competitors\' offerings compared to AkzoNobel\'s portfolio and contribute to the creation of value propositions for customer segments.
  • Ensure optimal product positioning and value creation by adhering to established brand strategies and creating key product messages.
  • Liaise with Section Managers, R&DI Director, Senior Sales Leaders, and Regional Marketing Manager to support regional technical activity and provide product information and feedback.
  • Promote best practices in product management throughout the organization.
  • Utilize the ERP system (SAP), databases such as Crystal BI and tools such as Power BI to set up the service product range and monitor its performance.
What you need to have:
  • Preferably holds a university degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Extensive working experience in a commercial environment.
  • Ideally, experience in marketing, sales, RD&I, and/or supply chain roles.
  • Previous work experience in a tech/tech service role is advantageous.
  • Analytical mindset with good financial acumen.
  • Demonstrates a strong performance orientation.
  • Possesses deep product acumen.
  • Exhibits solid interpersonal and influencing abilities.
  • Manages stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrates constraint breaking and solution-focused capabilities, collaborating with people in different reporting lines and functions for alignment.
