Responsibilities

The SPIC duties and responsibilities are as follows :

• To take instructions from SMRT Commercial Division, and to represent SMRT as their own SPIC at site.
• To be present at the MRT station at all times when the contractor\'s workmen are carrying out construction works, are delivering materials, are removing construction debris and are cleaning up the worksite.
• To sign in the contractor\'s workmen at the beginning of the working shift and to sign out the same workmen at the end of the working shift.
• To check constantly and to ensure that the contractor\'s workmen are working in a safe and proper manner so that the safety and convenience of the MRT passengers and members of the public are not affected by the contractor\'s work.
• The Resident Technical Officer has to attend a half-day training course provided by SMRT, and has to pass a test after the training, before he is qualified to perform the SPIC duties.

The Site Supervision duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• To take instructions from, and to represent, the Superintending Officer or Architect, C&S Engineer, M&E Engineer and his representatives at site.
• To ensure that the building works and associated building services are constructed in accordance with the contract specifications and contract drawings or approved shopdrawings.
• To carry out regular and frequent site inspections to check on the quality and the progress of the construction works.
• To maintain proper and updated daily records of all works done including records of tests, inspections, status of work, safety, site diary, materials on site, equipment on site, labour force, day-works, etc.
• To provide standing supervision, as and when required by the contract specifications, or the Building Authority.
• To ensure that the works are completed with the specified construction quality, and to report regularly to the project consultants.
• To monitor the progress of works on site, and to report regularly to the project consultants.
• To monitor the safety of the construction works.
• To check the contract specifications and contract drawings for discrepancies and to report such discrepancies to the project consultants.
• To attend to the contractors\' queries at site.
• To assist the project consultants in the handover of completed works from the contractor to the building owner.
• To perform any other duties, as and when instructed by the project consultants.

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Civil Structure with minimum 5 years relevant site supervisory experience
• Conversant with Singapore\'s codes of practice and regulations and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with contractors
• Be prepared to work on rotating shifts/permanent night shifts
