Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) established in September 2010 is a partnership between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The school operates from two campuses \xe2\x80\x93 Yunnan Campus at Nanyang Technological University and a new campus to be built at Novena. Our primary healthcare partner is the National Healthcare Group (NHG) which comprises an integrated network of primary healthcare polyclinics, acute care hospitals such as Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and national specialist centers. LKCMedicine delivers a new five-year undergraduate medical programme leading to a joint MBBS degree awarded by Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University.
We are currently recruiting a Senior Research Fellow who will be working closely with Prof Laurent Renia.
Roles & Responsibilites
The appointed Senior Research Fellow will assist studies in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of erythrocyte invasion by Plasmodium parasites.
The Senior Research Fellow will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic research environment with access to state-of-the-art core facilities.
-1-2 years of experience as a research assistant /research officer in a microbiology field (BSL-2) is required. Experience with in vivo work (rodents) is also required.
Support daily administrative duties in the laboratory (Health and safety, data management,)
Manage invoices and receipt of goods
Manage and anticipate maintenance of lab equipment
Manage lab budget with the PIs
Redact IACUC, licenses and report for mouse work
Supervise students, interns and post-doctoral on lab practices
Manage his/her research projects under the supervision of the lab PI
Manage the day-to-day laboratory activities
Other tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience in immunofluorescence techniques and fluorescence microscopy
Experience with techniques in molecular biology such as DNA isolation/purification/amplification, molecular cloning and acrylamide gel electrophoresis
Prior aseptic culture maintenance experience is necessary
Experience in Plasmodium research and culture (such as P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. cynomolgi and P. knowlesi)
Able to perform Phlebotomy procedures using proper, sterile and safe techniques.
Experience in flow cytometry
Experience in immunological assays
PhD in Biological/Biomedical Sciences with expertise in virology or infectious diseases (BSL-2 or BSL-3 microorganisms).
At least 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as a Senior Research Officer/Assistant
Expertise in tissue culture, immunology, parasitology, and molecular biology
