What the role is:Senior Scientist (Aquaculture Innovation Centre)What you will be working on:

  • Performs a variety of complex tasks and/or may lead a team in the performance of a variety of tasks that are often routine.
  • Leads and mentors project team members in skill sets necessary for effective project execution.
  • Perform independent project design, timeline with deliverables, testing and validation including report writing. Effective project management with detailed recording of raw data and results analysis and interpretation for successful completion is a must.
  • Provide regular feedback on project progress and solutions for challenges faced as well as identify emerging aquaculture areas and skill sets required for moving to execute the area of work if any.
  • Secure at least one external research grant for projects and publish scientific work in journals, aquaculture news and other aquaculture publicity materials.
  • Work with team or lead projects that would result in IP licensing and/or commercialization of valuable inventions.
  • Assist team in farm matters and set up or update SOPs for efficient laboratory / farm operation and management as and when needed.
  • Demonstrate initiative to identify emerging areas of relevance to the aquaculture industry and suggest projects or areas for capability development that would meet AIC\'s objectives and KPIs.
  • Provide technical and logistics support for Centre\'s CET workshops or internship as well as support aquaculture outreach activities.
  • Undertake and lead at least two industry consultancy projects annually to help meet AIC\'s KPIs and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain professionalism, good work ethics and confidentiality of Centre\'s projects.
  • Handle centre-related tasks as assigned by Head/AIC
What we are looking for:
  • Relevant qualification in aquaculture with at least 7 years of aquaculture research/working experience.
  • Those with experience in breeding, hatchery and larviculture would be a bonus.
  • Good statistical and relevant analytical tools for data analysis, interpretation and report writing.
  • Good team work, resourcefulness and able to work independently to execute the tasks and achieve deliverables on time.
  • Good communication and project management skills with prompt project completion and quality output.
