[What the role is]
We are seeking an experienced, self-driven and committed Senior Scientist/Scientist to lead and oversee the strategic development of environmental microbiology research at the Environmental Health Institute.

[What you will be working on]

The successful candidate will be:

• working in a multi-disciplinary environment, where his/her research is translated into evidence-based public health programmes and policies.
• a part of a dynamic team that works closely with a network of local and international collaborators to shape our environmental health landscape.
• expected to manage research resources, publish findings in scientific journals, and present at major scientific meetings.

[What we are looking for]

Requirements:

• Relevant postgraduate degree with at least 5 years of experience in research
• Experience in leading and managing projects
• Experience in research on antimicrobial resistance with extensive knowledge in contemporary microbiological and advanced molecular techniques
• Good knowledge in core areas relevant to environmental microbiology, e.g. field sampling, microbiological analyses, antimicrobial resistance, metagenomics, etc.
• Experience in analysing and interpreting complex microbial data sets
• Strong interest and strategic thinking in operational research for public health
• Capacity for system thinking and inclination for trans-disciplinary science
• Ability to integrate and operationalise knowledge from various disciplines
• Effective communication with diverse stakeholders and able to foster collaborations
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
